One of the nice touches in the game #CivVII is that a migrant is a *reward*, a little bit of free population you didn't have to work for.
That, my friends, should be said more often.

Anyway, it's hard to see how this makes the US more secure. And I can't help looking at the pictures of this massive naval deployment and thinking about how much it cost relative to giving Ukraine what it needs to defend itself. 10/10

That would certainly solve the problem of child rapists getting elected.
Assuming we're preventing people in prison from being MPs, because, just now, all that rule is law stuff is looking pretty dicey.

Well.
Starmer asked to respond to Trump breaking international law and seizing the leader of another sovereign nation replies that it is his "responsibility" to have a good relationship with the US President.

"I have stepped up that responsibility [and] I do get on with President Trump," he tells the BBC

One of the small but significant revelations of my tea drinking life was the fact that you shouldn't make green or white tea with boiling water.
It transformed both brews from a bitter what's-the-point to a really very pleasant gentler form of tea.

I know the case is about whether she was a victim of grooming or not. But honestly I do not care.

She's British and should remain a British citizen. Doing awful things has never once invalidated that before now. We shouldn't just get to abandon problems we created for everyone else to deal with.

For what is the name 'Jesus', other than 'Saviour'? Therefore Jesus, be Jesus to me, and save me."

The review and discussion of proposals to redefine the #AnglicanCommunion and diversify its leadership dominated the five-day meeting of the Inter Anglican Standing Commission on Unity, Faith and Order (IASCUFO) last month.

Some of the additional collects are good, but this one is not a patch on the long-form one for this week:

Having basic needs met is a huge factor in determining health

If everyone had shelter, food, healthcare & a basic income…society would be healthier

Instead the billionaires & corporations hoard wealth and blame us when we become disabled or homeless

Poverty is a policy choice. Not a moral failing

More than that, UBI is an obligation of a system that has appropriated all of the inhabitable land on Earth. As people can't opt out of the system—there's nowhere to go—the system owes everyone a living at least as good and dignified as they'd have if the appropriation of all land hadn't happened.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

We didn't survive and thrive as a species because we had warriors or hunters - pretty much every omnivore can manage that.

We did so because we developed Grandmothers, and domesticated Dogs.

Community is what defines us as a species, and every "self-reliant" libertarian shitweasel be damned.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Visiting parents of OH for Christmas and, well, I'm not sure if the floors are being protected from the Hound's feet (#greyhounds have insanely long claws) or whether the Hound is being protected from sliding endlessly off the horizon, but either way, she's not best pleased by the socks.

I mean, it shouldn’t matter the reason, they have the same right to use the road as me. But it’s easy to dehumanise others when we’re wrapped in squat metal boxes. I find consciously adding some human story to the person behind the wheel helps me drive more politely, and hence safely.

This is ... well let's just say this is not a thoughtfully considered theological stance.
Apologetics fail, as it were.

Also, of course, inhumane, but we all know that's the point.

⚓️Holidays, especially family-heavy ones, can be really lonely for us single clergy people. After church is over, we often go home to an empty house. If you have a spare seat at your table, please think about if you know any single adults who could use a spot to belong for a bit. Thanks!
