New essay on my blog.

I wanted to write about AI, and in particular, the misuse of AI as a teaching tool in classroom education.

Scifi in my childhood: AGI becomes self-aware, launches missiles to extinct humanity it consider inferior.

Overhyped AI marketing now: AI launches missiles because DOGE asks it to find cost-effective measures for heating government buildings, and accidentally gave it control of every missile silo.

Introducing a new economic chart where I have included lines for the scenarios "wizard uses magic to solve everything ever no downsides" and "the sun grows big muscle arms and punches earth into rubble"
AI could end scarcity, end humanity - or boost trend growth by 0.2 percentage points

Critical thinking skills. We need them yesterday, for today and the future.
In Finland they’ve been taught how to spot fake news as part of a critical thinking curriculum since 2014 including how to spot a doctored photo, check for inconsistencies as well as countering misinformation that sows division. We are more than 10 years behind on this.
School pupils are to be taught how to tackle conspiracy theories, spot 'fake news' & root out misinformation. The Daily Mail, ajudged by Wikipedia to be an unreliable new source, is furious. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to work out why.

Today's brew day is an American IPA, brewed with Simcoe, Amarillo, and Mosaic hops. Adding dried blueberry and culinary lavender to the boil and ferment.

If the basis of your life doesn't follow the teachings and actions of Christ, don't call yourself a "Devout Christian."

It's really that simple.
The top three things Jesus was on about were feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and welcoming the stranger. Rich men have convinced so-called Christians to starve the hungry, gut health care, and deport the stranger to enrich themselves. It’s astoundingly anti-Christ.

A new report finds corporations like Kroger and McDonald's are using digital loyalty programs to track your data and potentially charge you more.

It's a tactic known as surveillance pricing.

There is a reason China invested in multiple "promising technologies," and it's the same reason highland farmers in Papau New Guinea plant multiple separate small plots. If one happens to wash out, it's not a huge disaster.

Meanwhile, in the US, we have poured everything into a monoculture of AI.

Feature, not a bug.
Yes, forcing users to upload documents for age verification is going to end very badly.

Collecting sensitive documents, like ID is an especially bad idea.

Do not collect shit that you do not need to collect, ever.

If it's not collected it can't be leaked.

That is all.
