If you are *outside* Louisiana and care about air quality and human health, it's still a good idea to stay apprised of these issues, because we are often a testground for regressive and harmful policies before they are tried elsewhere (like nationally).
This write-up actually does a really good job describing some of the complexities of air quality monitoring and the barriers that grassroots organizations fighting for cleaner air and better health have found thrown in front of them under current administrations.
Grassroots air monitoring helps people track pollution in their own backyards. Those efforts are under threat in Louisiana.

The Trump administration has delayed Biden-era rules for dozens of chemical plants required to track carcinogens around their boundaries.

ICE has kidnapped so many people from their cars that the city had to put out this statement. Let that sink in.
Vehicles that are abandoned due to an ICE detention and towed to the City's impound lot will be released to their owners or a representative at no cost.

For my own part, if I felt I knew exactly the right way to fight climate change, I would just go fight climate change that way! Show it works! I would not devote all my energies to shitting on people doing it differently.

Odd, then, that approximately zero of the critics make that choice.

I know we aren’t all fans of the police here but the difference between this and an ordinary police arrest or detainment is night and day. There’s no “You’re under arrest” and then sitting in the car while they ask questions. You are simply disappeared in seconds. No record of what happened.
