Tribute to the Corail stock family, which has been running in 🇨🇵 since June 1975.
🧵

1️⃣ 3686 cars delivered to SNCF until 1988.
The most common type was the cramped B11(r)tu, but my tribute to the 🇨🇵 fleet shall rather focus on the B5rtux Bar-Corail.
The logo was just great

Late stage capitalism news this week

🇫🇷 Our deficit is too high! Let’s… eliminate two public holidays

🇬🇧 Our deficit is too high! Let’s… deregulate financial markets

Maybe we’re not actually all in this together and we tax some of the rich some more instead?

I have an opinion piece for the iPaper - basically on why we still should not (yet?) believe Eurostar's expansion plans #CrossChannelRail inews.co.uk/inews-lifest...
Eurostar trains to Switzerland and Germany are an empty promise
The operator claims direct trains to Geneva, Frankfurt and Cologne could launch by the early 2030s, as potential rivals vie for space to maintain trains

Hey 🇨🇦 and 🇲🇽 and 🇿🇦, 🇪🇺/🇫🇷 here. Maybe we can work something out come up with a trade deal on booze and other products like, say, cheese and stuff?
Oh noes, Americans get to drink bourbon and Zinfandel while the beleaguered Europeans will be forced back on armagnac and Sancerre, the lights are going out all over Europe.

I just watched Trudeau's speech on the tarifs. I think it will go down in history as one of Canada's finest moments. As a Frenchman who has lived in and visited Canada many times, I couldn't feel more proud of this country and its people, both so dear to my heart. 🇨🇦❤️

Old trick: find young, talented but impressionable people, make them feel special. They will do whatever you want.

It's used by abusers in all kinds of settings.
As a parent: teach your kids about this pattern.
As a leader in an organization: mentor young talent about it.

I was today years old when I learnt you can type "-AI" at the end of a google search and it removes the bullshit AI Overview.

Yay 🎉

That's what running fast service in mixed traffic with local one does to your local service: either it crowds it out or, like in this graphic timetable example of the Adriatic line (probably the busiest mixed-traffic line in Italy), it lengthen local service's trip time considerably.

managed to grab a double espresso at Gare de Lyon's Pret (hall 3, underneath the numered platforms) and it's actually A-OK: not a bucket of water, some bitterness, actual coffee flavor. grain is prob too roasted but all in all, a decent cup. A comforting treat after a hectic ride to the station 😮‍💨
