By the end of this decade, Ouigo will account for 1/3 of the TGV km-trains in 🇫🇷 instead of 1/5 currently.
3/3: I'm dreading doing the 2026 update for UK-France, I fear more Ouigoisation has punched even more holes in journey options, including the London-Lille-Lyon service.
It really does dilute frequency, reducing connectivity.

🙂: it will help absorbing the redesign costs

☹️: potential bottleneck at the start of the industrialisation stage. Even tighter if Alstom wins 1-2 more HSR contracts (CP, Renfe, PKP, Rail Baltica...)
Note: if Italo does this it’ll use Alstom Avelia Stream trains (I’d assume)

Mixed news for Virgin Trains - it’ll mean someone gets this model OKed in Germany. But if Italo is ahead of Virgin Trains in the queue… 🤔

Just updating my UK-Portugal page. The 09:30 Vigo-Madrid AVE has had its 1st class & all catering removed, to become an Avlo.
It’s almost as if @Renfe is deliberately sabotaging its own service. If you want a proper train it’s 06:00 (ouch!) or 13:27 (doesn’t run Saturdays). 🤷‍♂️
