After over a decade (yeesh) I am returning to the X-family of books with a new ongoing series. Being a little rusty I still have to search for character reference. The irony is a ton of the reference I colored back in the day. I'm just too old to remember it.

After over a decade (yeesh) I am returning to the X-family of books with a new ongoing series. Being a little rusty I still have to search for character reference. The irony is a ton of the reference I colored back in the day. I'm just too old to remember it.
This was an interesting project. The original cover was "rendered" using Ben Day Dots and flat color. In order to match up the background and surrounding elements I had to frankenstein it from samples of the original scan. The main head being a combo of old and new.
In case you missed it, I drew a variant cover for the all-new Firestorm #1 that makes an infinite connecto-wraparound with the original Firestorm #1 cover by Al Milgrom!

My favorite memory of my time at Valiant was getting Lewis's pages to color. I tried to horde them like Gollum. He did all the work for me. I just had to not screw them up. Anyone that loves art in general should be backing this project.

I just discovered the selection brush tool in Photoshop which is hilarious cause it's part of the selection tool menu that I use a million times a day. Apparently, it has been there for over a year. I am gud at my job.

Black Cat #1 is a very good comic that's pretty new-reader-friendly. It throws a big curveball at Felicia. I liked how it shows off both sides of the character and humanizes her quite a bit. Wilson gets her voice right & the art is stunning @gwillow.me #GlebMelnikov @rebervision.bsky.social

I'll tell you one thing freelancers love to do and that's submitting multiple documents proving you do what you do to a publisher paying you to do that thing multiple times a year. Especially when that publisher hasn't asked me to work on anything since the last time I submitted those documents.

I don’t see how people I know still use Threads. I have an account cause it’s tied into Insta and FB, so I’ll check it occasionally to see if I have notifications. It only takes scrolling about 3 posts for me to regret opening the app though. Terrible place.
