In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

everyone who is a living person in a nation should be entitled to a free government apartment and unlimited food stamps with zero qualifiers, feeding and housing people is the absolute bare minimum a government should do to maintain legitimacy
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

local media peeps, you’re going to be key, here
NEW - The feds are seeking Pittsburgh office space for an unspecified law enforcement agency expansion in the region. Reporting from WaPo and NPR indicate that ICE is behind the request as part of a 10,000 officer nationwide expansion www.axios.com/local/pittsb...

Presently in Pennsylvania ~25% of the population receives $641 million of free policing annually, funded by other regions.

This scheme uses state police for local police work, which may actually be against state law.

A new law seeks to make that approach for fiscally responsible:
Proposal to create a fee structure for Pennsylvania municipalities that rely on the state police for local policing instead of having their own departments or joining regional or county departments

We have a bit of a natural experiment here. Compare the tone, quantity and duration of Charlie Kirk coverage with that of the two Dem lawmakers gunned down in their homes in Minnesota 6 months ago. May be revealing.

thank you, governor. It’s very important to anticipate bad-faith actors twisting everything you say and do and remain eternally reactive. That’s called ‘courage’
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro chides Zohran Mamdani for not condemning other people’s antisemitism:

“He left open far too much space for extremists to either use his words or for him to not condemn the words of extremists that said some blatantly antisemitic things.”
Shapiro rebukes Mamdani for failing to condemn ‘blatantly antisemitic’ extremists
The Pennsylvania governor told JI: ‘When supporters of yours say things that are blatantly antisemitic, you can't leave room for that to just sit there’
