I literally tore a hole in the paper while scratching his name out. Decided to dedicate the symphony to "The memory of a great man".
My favorite two anecdotes about Napoleon Bonaparte:
a) Ludwig van Beethoven had initially composed his third symphony in honor of Napoleon. Upon hearing the news that Bonaparte had crowned himself emperor, he immediately crossed out the dedication. (1/2)

Around this time in 1808, as I was preparing for my first personal benefit concert in 5 years, the kernel of an idea for a choral fantasy for piano and orchestra (and a choir, obviously) started bugging me.

I’m so pissed at how all these networks and everyone are not showing white people when talking about SNAP. We’re the largest demographic of SNAP recipients yet they’re primarily showing Black and Brown people and we all know why they’re doing it!

Black American soldiers literally dug these WWII graves. Traumatic. To acknowledge that fact at a cemetery they helped construct is something the Heritage Foundation cannot accept. As Veterans Day approaches, never forget that this country both compels and disrespects Black military service. Always.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️
