Yesterday, this contortionist figured out how to pick at her surgical sutures. We put her in a surgical suit which she mysteriously shed overnight, so this morning it’s a double cone, which seems to be running enough interference to keep her from picking at her scars.

Important thread. Long read about how Elsevier, which publishes a large number of important scientific journals, has driven the entire editorial board of the Journal of Human Evolution to resign in protest/disgust. Prioritizing profits. Elsevier doesn't understand the value of its own products.

I’m headed to Tampa to be there for/with colleagues who are doing community work in imperfect communities. I hope associations can rethink big conferences. I want to see my people and some anthropologists are definitely my people, but we can be with each other in different ways.
