Luis Rubiales was at his book launch for “Matar a Rubiales” when his own uncle — also named Luis Rubiales! — threw eggs at him. This sentence is all somehow completely true?

Morocco is killing dogs ahead of the World Cup. It’s cruel. This is what FIFA gets hosts to do—kill animals, move unhoused people, erect barriers around neighborhoods they deem in poor taste—FIFA compels countries to commit the inhumane and inexcusable in the name of the beautiful game.

FIFA being famously short of cash.
Trump and Ric Grenell really will do all they can to destroy the Kennedy Center.

They won’t succeed, but they very well might hollow it out for the time he’s in office and for some time thereafter.

It’s truly horrible.

The Kennedy Center booked the World Cup draw at President Donald Trump’s urging. It will occupy much of the campus and displace planned performances.

Women like Megyn making acceptable the grooming of and potential rape of girls.
Women like Megyn Kelly are why you can't have high school sleepovers anymore. Because, bitch, what is THAT supposed to mean? Nah, your kid can't hang out with my kid at all. My apologies.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

US passport holders don’t need a visa to enter Morocco, but still an interesting move by the king.
Morocco and CAF have announced that fans with tickets for the upcoming AFCON can now obtain electronic visas to enter Morocco free of charge through the YALLA app, which is being used to streamline travel and ticketing at the tournament.

My students read and discussed this piece last week. The stories they shared were a reminder of how little is done to protect girls and women in our society. Check in with your students always, but this week especially. I can promise you many of them need to be reminded that they matter.
In 2020, I wrote and published the inaugural article "The Things We Believe" about the MeToo Movement in the Journal of Feminist Anthropology.

It was dismissed then. It will be dismissed now. The truth however, stands.
