Johnny is fire and thus a hothead. Reed is water and thus cool headed. Sue (Johnny’s sister and Reed’s husband) is attracted to Namor, who is hotheaded water.
Also of note: the Golden Age Human Torch was an android, so by pitting him against Namor, you had Cool Fire vs. Hot Water.

OTD in 2009, #DavidMazzucchelli released the masterful #AsteriosPolyp. Rarely has so much thought been put into the storytelling potential of color and shape in a graphic novel. This book is stunning visually and philosophically, and I need to read it again.

OTD in 2009, #GrantMorrison and #FrankQuitely 's Batman and Robin 2 was released. The choreography for Robin’s fight with Kushti (conjoined triplets who are acrobats in the Circus of the Strange) is perfect, as is the way sound effects are worked into the art itself.
