hey, another round of applause for @lindseyboylan.bsky.social, who has taken very significant risks and flack for being the first to come forward with stories about what an abusive POS Cuomo is.

She's the one who started these dominoes a-topplin'.

Thank you.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.

Real issue is individual responses, like masking & isolation, having to stand in for better public health response (vax + clean indoor air, sick pay, & monitoring). But dice come to mind. Vax is best "1 step" load dice in favour of oneself & others. But "never mask" implies worst remaining load.

My publisher’s been very patient. I’m not doing everything I said I’d do to promote this book (out in a few weeks) because I’m an organizer in a city under federal attack. My days are full and emotionally exhausting. Any help getting the word out means a lot. It's a book people need right now.

When I turned 30 I had not yet written my first published book or my first published novel and did not know (or know of) some of the most important people in my life. I didn't know how much my life could still change, and did, after the age of 30. There is so much your life still yet to live.
Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

A brief thread on alt-text.

Alt text is descriptive text that conveys the meaning of an image. It's designed to make visual content accessible to people with vision disabilities. When a person uses assistive technology such as a screen reader, the screen reader will read the onscreen text aloud 1/7

While the first half of the answer points to a conclusion of "book would need to set current actions in historical context to avoid dating very quickly" (which reasonably seems a route - albeit not easy - to a better book) the highlighted half seems very "I like riding these classic hobby horses".
Everyone is, rightly, clowning on Cass Sunstein for the Star Wars stuff in his Chotiner interview, but for me, this part was WAY more revealing

Folks simply have NO idea how lazy our elite "public intellectuals" can be

Not acknowledging danger from acquaintances and instead overlooking it goes contrary to just about only program proven in trials to reduce sexual violence (aim is spot & avoid).
Seems relevant to dealing with political movement with very prominent abusers or alleged abusers.

Exactly!

You might not know who’s radicalizing your son or get to watch the process. But if they’re radicalizing him to be violent, you’ll probably start to see him be more violent.

And he’ll almost certainly be hurting people who our society has taught him (and you) that he’s entitled to hurt.
Thread and ..

It’s the kind of radicalization that requires them to believe that the targets are people and need to be recognized BECAUSE of the “public private”

you don’t know whose radicalizing your son … so you have to take him bullying the queer kid seriously
The idea that young men and boys are radicalized into violent misogyny by their role models isn’t new.

The thing that feels so scary about online radicalization is that none of us feel like we have any control over—or even knowledge about—the strangers radicalizing the boys and men in our lives.

Functioning non-digital system is good to have - but no reason to slow progress & eat debate time every day. On MP's salary there is good economic case for more legislative time, less time in division lobbies.
Government experiencing no difficulty in throwing out Lords amendments that were put forward by the Opposition. But it’s all very time consuming. Silly that they can’t vote by pressing a button. They could all be home by now.
