Senate Democrats plan to block a sweeping government funding package after U.S. Border Patrol agents killed a man in Minneapolis on Saturday — increasing the likelihood of another shutdown at the end of the week.
Senate Democrats to block government funding after second fatal shooting in Minneapolis
The move could force a partial government shutdown next weekend. Lawmakers are set to vote on spending bills this week but may look to split Homeland Security from other agencies.

Corn tortilla. Broccoli. Chicken. And one other thing. Maybe a carrot! Maybe a bit of cheese! We assumed that it had to be food. That was our mistake, I think. Assuming that the One Other Thing had to be food.

The Agriculture secretary suggests one corn tortilla, one piece of broccoli, one piece of chicken, and one inscrutable last thing.

We really aren't getting much snow in Denver - but it's really cold. I haven't been outside since Thursday. Probably won't go out today either.
🥶 Cold, cold, and cold! Wind chills at or below zero most of today, with air temps only topping out in the teens with clouds and morning flurries.

🏈❄️ Bitterly cold again tomorrow with afternoon and evening snow, and 1-3” of snow between 3p-6a tomorrow night/Mon AM.

Wrinkle in Time was mine too! My mother gave it to me, said,
"there's a little girl in this who reminds me of you." And, lo and behold, she was right - I became a scientist because of that and the later scifi I read.
A Wrinkle In Time, to a degree that I almost didn't think of it because it seemed too obvious, like water if you're a fish.

Runner up is The Witch of Blackbird Pond. I read both to pieces.
What is "your" Newbery book? The one you read when you were little (or not so little), and took into your soul?

Mine's The Perilous Gard.

Most libraries will have a simple form on their websites you can use to request a book. Or you can just ask a librarian.

My library has purchased about 20 of my recommendations this past year!
fun fact! a great way to support authors w/out buying their books: request their book at your local library! it seriously helps
Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.
