“the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald helped change safety standards. There has not been a single major commercial shipwreck on the Great Lakes for the past 50 years.”
50 years ago, the Edmund Fitzgerald, a 'rock star' ship, sank in Lake Superior
Twenty-nine sailors drowned when the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in the Great Lakes' icy waters on Nov. 10, 1975. The ship was immortalized in a surprise hit 1976 folk ballad by Gordon Lightfoot.

All the Republicans saying stuff like "I GUESS NYC FINALLY FORGOT 9/11!!" is so funny. Apparently "never forget" was always just supposed to mean "we will be extra racists to middle easterners forever."

Maybe I'm naive but I thought it had something to do with remembering the victims? Guess not.

ROB ZOMBIE: Yes. I've never claimed otherwise.
CHOTINER: And then you
ROB ZOMBIE: burned through the witches. Again, this is on record.

This is the first I’ve heard of this place. I heard @abbyllorico.bsky.social‘s story a moment ago, and @stlpublicradio.bsky.social‘s morning newsletter talked about it, too. Is it crazy to plan on visiting it Friday morning?

Ok, so

an attorney (suspended) claims the St. Louis sheriff (in jail) ordered him (before the suspension and jail) to intimidate a local reporter (who was reporting accurately) and the attorney apparently did so in basically the clumsiest way possible.

This is Coen brothers stuff
Sheriff's lawyer told reporter to take down an article — and he'd send deputies to their home
Blake Lawrence, an attorney for the St. Louis sheriff's office, is on administrative leave after allegedly sending harassing text messages to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter. But he says the move i...

Trump is such a hypocrite.

On the one hand, he complains about Canada. On the other hand, he gives the White House the Canadian treatment.

Pick a lane, buddy.

Some people don’t care if they’re listening to music or just hearing noise. The latter (i.e. - the dingdongs) will eat this shit up.
Oh my god some fucking tech dingdong posted this on Twitter with the caption "AI games are going to be amazing" totally seriously, you have to watch it. You have to. In full screen.

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.

In St. Louis, costs continue to rise while many families struggle to afford the basics.

As your Congresswoman, I'll focus on lowering costs and putting more money in your pocket.

On the recent batch of chili, once the onions, beef, and pork were cooked, I used two cups of beef stock instead of my normal one cup of beef stock. And I let the two cups cook down for a bit before adding the tomatoes and spices. I think the extra wet gave depth.

When I was five, I kept my Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom t-shirt on a hanger in my closet. I’m still not good at hanging my clothes up, but this t-shirt demanded the honor and it was easier to view and marvel at the art that way.

Rest in peace, Drew Struzan, and thank you for your good work.

Please be conscious if you protest this weekend that there are feds at the protest. They look like you and they sound like you, not like Steve Buscemi in that one clip with the skateboard. Thinking you can spot them is self delusion. Nobody you haven’t met needs to know your last name.

As true as this post is, Lee Pace is only the second hottest character in The Fall.

The hottest character is Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, 2nd movement, and it ain’t even close.
Lee Pace in The Fall is the result of a decades-long experiment to see what happens if all the hotness for an entire generation is concentrated in the body of a single man

Do you believe in magic?
When a Briton makes tea
They like to use a microwave unlike you & me

But it's magic
When they say that it's brewin'
It's smells just like a septic tank when it's all
A'stewin'

Tell you bout the magic that will fill your cup
But it's almost guaranteed to make you throw up

When people in St Louis ask where I went to high school, I usually say something along the lines of “not from around here”. That’s because I went to Grand Blanc (pronounced like “Blank”. Don’t French it up.) High School. Class of ‘99.
