Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man is going into the public domain on January 1st in case anyone wants to make a horror film about an adorably drunk couple and their dog chasing, like, a killer clown or something.

What the hell are TOUGHER abortion restrictions? Women are already dying on parking lots!?!???
UPDATE: Now that 8 Senate Dems folded to Trump—Republicans demand tougher abortion restrictions to extend Obamacare funds.
What? Moving goal posts? Lucy and the football? Who Could Have Seen This Coming??
This is why you don't back down from a bully! My God! My kingdom for a spine for Democrats.

remarkable that everyone talked about Mark Carney as this serious competent economic expert and yet his bright ideas have been cranking up military spending and going all-in on an AI bubble that's about to burst at any moment

But if you do want kids off screens and making friends offline then you need to address the reasons they've 'retreated'.

ps. it is arguable that Brianna would not likely have turned to social media for friendships and transitional support had those things been readily available in her local area.
@charlotte2153.bsky.social you want kids like Brianna off her phone? then give them a better alternative.

SuperDog Rex had double happiness bonus of a good hike + snow.
A ton of weird quirks. He’s not affectionate. So smart. Thinks he’s a peer to Husband & me.
But it breaks my heart every time I go to scratch his ears or rub his head & he cowers in fear of being hit.
Fuck the person who hits any dog.

Nothing illustrates the arseholery of the IOC and the British Press more than the use of the image of a not-Trans woman to illustrate a story about trans women being banned (because there are no current trans women competing at this level)

The biggest problem with Bond is that, in the twenty-first century, there can't be many people who can suspend disbelief enough to think that a British spy is one of the good guys, no matter how nice the suits are, or how much you have a fantasy about owning an Aston Martin.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”
Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:
“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

They're getting it from the prime minister, the BBC, politicians and the newspapers in every newsagents in the country.

when this piece of shit is asked what good phone pouches are supposed to do, shs responds glibly about online radicalisation. where else would children learn to be transphobic in the tolerant UK, after all? ridiculous
On Brianna's 19th birthday, this morning I joined @cheshirepcc.bsky.social and the Brianna Ghey Legacy Project Phone Free Education campaign at the launch at Jodrell Bank of a new £150k initiative to make Cheshire the first county in the UK where ALL state high schools have lockable phone pouches.
