In this meta-analysis of 40 studies incl 5,619,584 participants we found that #autistic individuals are more than 2X likely to have had at least 1 adverse childhood experience, incl all types of abuse, neglect, violence, bullying etc., than a non-autistic person.

7) Use the phrase "might as well" to call when you have time. Doesn't have to be a big deal / planned scheduled thing. On a lunch break? call yr reps. Taking the dog out? Call yr reps. Smoke break? Plz consider quitting but also call your reps.

8) Validate your anxiety. It's ok to be nervous!

4) Walk around & PACE if that helps you. Keep your mind focused on moving your body so it isn't overthinking the call

5) If you get nervous & hang up that's ok. You're helping by lighting up those phone lines.

6) The busy signal is a sound of VICTORY, not a clue your call is a bother. Keep it up!

Tips for Autistics to shake phone anxiety & call reps:

1) Body double, live or virtual. Have a friend call!

2) Have a written script! it's ok to sound like you're reading directly from it. You don't need to mask, but you DO need to be clear

3) Have 1-3 SPECIFIC issues to address. Ex: DOE & RFK!

I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

Autistic Lexicon

Autism Community vs. Autistic Community.

The *Autistic* Community is inclusive of anyone who is Autistic (with a diagnosis of ASD or not)

The *Autism* Community is arguably anyone/anything that has any connection to Autism and is a much larger.

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall.

They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+.

Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them.

I think about it a lot in moments like this.

I used to work for an elected official as the person who answered their emails. I can tell you from personal experience, if even twenty or thirty people all call an official in a day, they start panicking. This stuff does help.
I know you hate this advice. I know you hear it all the time, but for gods sake you need to be calling your congressperson. Now. Today.

If you have a GOP representative, you need to call and ask if they approve of stripping congress of its constitutional authority. If they like being powerless.
