News orgs clawing their faces off to avoid ever plainly describing a thing Trump does in direct terms no longer frustrates me, by the way. NYT is correct here. These are not bribes. They’re a clever reference to “the art of the deal” that shitty book from 20 years ago literally nobody has ever read.

Folks say this like Barack had full Black support the whole time.
He did not.
Folks was not wasting their vote until he proved he could garner some aspect of the White vote.
Black folks did not line up behind him until after he won white ass Iowa.

This same logic would’ve meant Barack Obama never got nominated. I’ve been in too many races where this same argument was rolled out to deny Black people support for their runs in primaries.
