I did a book event recently where the organisers told me to talk about my experiences but “not be too negative”, Because apparently that would reflect badly on me. Which probably says more about the publishing industry then it does about me
You’ll have to forgive me for repeatedly sharing this but I‘m glad to have had the opportunity to write honestly and openly about my experiences in publishing and how my local librarian has helped me feel supported when no-one in publishing has:
"I did not have the good fortune of living with parents who loved reading or in a household filled with books, but I did have an excellent local library...now that I am an author, it is once again librarians who are helping me to flourish in the absence of other support" (scroll down to read my bit)

More importantly, where's the patience on these journailsts...?

(And please keep on telling me how the conflict between rapid publication and accurate reporting works

- without telling me...)

Indonesia is using the COP30 climate summit to aggressively market its carbon credits, launching daily “Sellers Meet Buyers” sessions and seeking international commitments despite unresolved integrity issues in its carbon market.

Experts warn Indonesia’s credits risk being “hot air.”

Science is under attack from the political Right because it's 'progressive'

- constantly seeking a BETTER understanding of the world around us.

That position THREATENS 'conservatives' who regard established beliefs and institutions as MORE IMPORTANT than observable reality.

One of the most BIZARRE aspects of studying Aerodynamics has to be a preference for IMPOSSIBLE PHYSICS over real-world observations that *might* be inconvenient for calculation.

It's often claimed that 'Bernoulli's Principle doesn't really explain Flight'

- in reality, it BREAKS Flight...!

Opening the government with no concessions from GOP merely to alleviate airline cancellations - when Congress has been dragging its feet for years on chronic FAA staffing issues - is a lame ass choice.

Also, doing it while the House refuses to work is appalling.
