Galactus, Devourer of Words

If you are wondering what words the all-male Congress found so "blasphemous" that they felt compelled to literally scrape them off the monument, they were: ''Woman, first denied a soul, then called mindless, now arisen, declared herself an entity to be reckoned.''
On this day in 1921, Congress reluctantly accepted a sculpture memorializing women’s 19th A victory. Congress relegated the memorial to the Capitol’s crypt & painted over the feminist inscription. The statue stayed entombed in the crypt for 76 years. The inscription is still not restored. #WeTheMen

Nope. Forgotten by tomorrow.

The pace at which US wealth concentration is rising is simply staggering

The concentration of AI wealth into the hands of a few tech barons + plutocratic capture ==> unchartered territory

There are some very popular accounts on this site that haven’t learned their lessons from Twitter.

If you’re very popular (congrats) & you blurt out thoughts, sometimes people are going to pile on & you’re not going to like it. The best thing to do is avoid blurting out things. Or mute replies.

USA was just on a mission to make sure the World team didn’t get to talk shit and now it’s time to hurry up and party a little.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

Jeffries: "Republicans have clearly come to the conclusion they cannot win fair elections, so they've adopted voter suppression as a strategy. Which is one of the reasons we're making sure there's a clear separation between DHS & ability for state officials to ensure there are free & fair elections"

I’ve said it before: the only thing that explains elected Republicans’ determination to support Trump’s objectively unpopular policies is that they don’t believe they’ll need to win a fair election.

Otherwise they’d read the same polls we do and moderate.
Kristi Noem: "When it gets to Election Day, we've been proactive to make sure we have the right people voting, electing the right leaders to lead this country."

Note the framing here:

It’s “Democrats have refused to fund” DHS and not “Republicans refused to prohibit face masks” or “the two parties could not agree on how to reform the agency.”

When I was in my 20s back in the 90s my friends & I used to make an annual snowboarding trip to Vancouver & Whistler/Blackcomb. As NBA fans back then we knew we’d have to wait through NHL highlights on Sportcenter before hoops. To our surprise it went hockey/curling/hoops.

😂

I grew up in the newspaper business & spent every summer from 12-22. My dad was a publisher. I remember him telling me back in the 80s that you could always gauge the economy by the Classified revenue.

When the internet killed that the decline began. It’s honestly a miracle any remain.
The Richmond Free Press, a Black newspaper in the former capital of the Confederacy, is closing.

“Each week our advertising lineage has diminished. Yet the quality remains,” the publisher wrote. “Is it racism? Is the Free Press no longer relevant?”

Underrated part of the Sochan signing is that the Knicks will have to make a decision on both of them at the end of the year, which means some good competition.

Both are young, various benefits & upsides in either case. Diawara’s shooting & length have to give him the advantage. Sochan toughness.
February 13, 2026 at 12:16 AM
Sochan and Alvarado are both elite level shit starters. That strikes me as very useful against Detroit.
February 12, 2026 at 9:56 PM
With Sochan & Anunoby on the same team, the Knicks now have the two NBA players with UK ties.
February 12, 2026 at 9:52 PM
There’s a way to look at the Knicks process with Yabusele’s contract & Dalen Terry, etc…and argue that Yabusele & two 2nd round picks netted Alvarado & Sochan, which is insane.

There it is. I don’t know if I want him to play over Diawara at this point but frankly the Knicks have an embarrassment of riches from top to bottom on the roster now.

At least 10 deep with rotation quality players and maybe 11 or 12.
Free agent forward Jeremy Sochan plans to sign with the New York Knicks after he clears waivers, his agent Deirunas Visockas of Gersh Sports tells ESPN. Sochan had 10 interested suitors after being released from the Spurs on Thursday and landed on the Knicks as his new team.
