AOC: An agency that is attacking U.S. citizens, kidnapping five-year-olds and using them as bait, and privately circulating the idea that they can violate the rights of Americans by busting down their doors—they deserve to be defunded, and I’ll take any step in that direction.

Zohran is mayor is great on its own, but a cherry on top has been watching Hochul become a much better governor over the last in response to Zohran’s rise

Maybe my experience is unique but now that permit filings and responses for your project are easy to see online, I think contractors blame delays on city agencies being slow when the reality is the contractor is slow filing and responding to city agencies and hope the customer doesn’t know better

the significance of the titanic is that its captain, gripped by hubris, piloted it directly into an iceberg and it sank. it did not ultimately turn around.
Vance on the economy:

"You don't turn the Titanic around overnight"

saint peter just putting together a playlist to show mike johnson before he opens the trap door to his eternal resting place
Johnson: I have no intention of getting in the way of President Trump and his administration. He has used the tariff power that he has under Article II. He has not exceeded his authority. There is no reason for the Article I branch to intervene.

school being canceled because the president sent armed thugs to harass and imprison the populace for voting against him should be the biggest domestic scandal in american history

America is going to need a third reconstruction after Trump is gone
This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

This is not the pivot at all, and it's baffling to treat it as the criticism of Schumer.
The pivot from "Mamdani is a political genius for focusing his message almost entirely on affordability" to "Schumer is a political moron for focusing his message almost entirely on affordability" is odd.

"If I could come with some advice, it would be for the Senate & House to start to take control of political power in America because with this erratic & mad behaviour, you have to ask the question, is the President capable of running the US?"

New — I wrote about ChongLy Scott Thao, the elderly Hmong American wrongly arrested and forced out of his home by ICE in his underwear during the punishing Minnesota winter, what witnesses saw, and DHS's racist claim that he fit the description of another Asian man they were looking for.

My story:
Behind the disturbing image of ICE snatching a half-naked, elderly Hmong American from his home
DHS has claimed without evidence that they were looking for someone else when they took ChongLy Scott Thao.

Imagine following orders to invade other countries and deploy paramilitary terrorist squads to ethnically cleanse American cities from a man who is so mentally broken that he is willing to dismantle NATO because he is a child who wants a toy and greenland looks big on a map

Just saw a Dan Goldman ad where he goes through the morning routine of a finance bro while trying to sell himself as an ultra progressive, so his messaging is both weird and feeling the heat of Brad’s primary challenge

There was a similar flowering of Black American public intellectuals culminating in the 2016-2024 period, and I'd argue the anti-Woke backlash was in many ways a reaction to the threat this posed to the outclassed white punditocracy, for whom meritocracy and DEI hire was a way to disqualify them.
Just finished this right after having read @hofrench.bsky.social's Second Emancipation, and it convinced me that the African & African diaspora anti-colonial thinkers of the 1940-1975 period constituted one of the great intellectual movements in the history of humankind.

Second Enlightenment level.
We think of the postwar world order as having been built by the US. But as Getachew makes clear, that world order was completed by the intellectual giants of the African, pan-African and African diaspora liberation movements.

It is no coincidence Trump & Miller are targeting its fundamental tenet.

it's about time the attorney general stood up to donald trump and the maga terrorists kidnapping, abusing, and murdering civilians in american cities
* Note:

This tweet by the Attorney General does not apply to the "brave" officers of ICE.

As mentioned by Stephen Miller, ICE officers have "total immunity" from the law

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

it would be one thing if trump's daily mental breakdowns were just a national embarrassment, but it's just so much worse that they come with massive global and national consequences and he's riding a media apparatus that refuses to treat trump's public decline for what it is

I’m glad Schumer is finally talking about affordability, but he’s doing it in the most focused-grouped surface level way possible to avoid talking about ICE murdering people and he’s the platonic ideal of a Wall Street politician.

Someone like Mamdani can talk about both things genuinely.

.@PabloReports: Stephen Miller seems to be operating sort of as a shadow president at this point. Is there any legal liability he could face at the end of this presidency?

Ryan: There’s going to be legal—and I think criminal—liability for multiple members.. certainly Stephen Miller.

It is not mutually exclusive to say “death squads are bad” and “affordable food and housing are good”
Schumer as a major American metro is being brutally occupied by Trump goons: "The affordability crisis will be our focus throughout 2026 because that's what the American people are demanding"

I’m in the state and district of the Democratic Senate and House leadership and I’m at a loss for when @schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social are going to do a single meaningful thing about Trump sending death squads into American cities.

Being in the minority doesn’t mean impotence.

The same week MAGA is rewriting the 1/6 insurrection as a peaceful protest complete with martyrs and political prisoners, they're saying that Renee Good and anyone else who exercises their constitutional right to protest, assemble, and observe ICE's paramilitary abuses deserve summary execution.

I see people talk about ICE by calling them the Gestapo, and while its not hard to see the comparison; they really aught to be compared to something homegrown. Because in truth, the closest thing we can compare ICE to is to federal slave catchers. The operation is the same.
