also okay this is gonna be a Spicy Take but my view on Eugenie and Beatrice being in the files is not “what did they know how dare they we must hold them responsible as 19yr olds who were involved”

It’s

“man wtf did their parents do to them that we don’t know about”

£180 for all of the BBC's output? Yes please. I would rather fund ad-free British content than the tech bros' American streamers. And as I listen, read and watch primarily BBC content, £15 a month seems fair to me.

This thread is a good breakdown of what the much-trumpeted Government AI courses actually are. Clearly no end-user testing of any of these materials, and they seem to be just more methods of getting your personal data. Don't waste your time.
I think I might take one of these "under 20 minutes" AI skills courses the UK Govt. seems very keen on everyone doing and live-post it here... Maybe we can all learn something together! The press release sends me to aiskillshub.org.uk/aiskillsboost/ - let's go and see!

The government’s suggestion that rolling out 20 minute courses on writing “AI“ prompts, sponsored by Google, Microsoft and Amazon, is somehow comparable to the founding of the Open University (the Wilson government‘s, & Jennie Lee’s, proudest achievement), is an insult to our human intelligence.

So ICE is now kidnapping children, and they're still not fascists or Nazis? It happened before. It was sanctioned by the state.

Yesterday we talked about how cervical screening is a really important tool in helping us to eliminate cervical cancer. Today we'd like to share a few tips about how to make your cervical screening experience as comfortable for you as possible...
This week is #CervicalCancerPreventionWeek. This cancer is highly preventable in the present day, because we know a lot about its cause: this horrid little dude, human papillomavirus (HPV). With what we know about HPV and its link to cervical cancer, eliminating the disease is possible...

2hrs to drive 15 miles to work today, due to faulty temporary lights in the next village. Utilities shouldn't be allowed to dig a hole, go away and leave their traffic lights constantly on red. Traffic chaos. Bad enough it's already a diversion route.

Listening to a discussion about AI in university education with Amol Rajan & Prof Duncan Iveston on Radio 4 Today. Too short to get into the nuance of course, but an observation that copilot can do a literate review for you very quickly perfectly illustrates one of my main concerns with AI…1/1

Saw Hamnet on Saturday. The host at #EverymanCinema warned that it was a sad film, but that it was ok to cry. Definitely moments that tug at the heart strings, but as with many stories, what resonates is what you have personal experience of - this is how great cinema becomes great art. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Evening by myself so had a rare solo cinema trip to see The Housemaid at the #EverymanCinema. Thought it was a really good adaptation of the book. Looking forward to Hamnet next week.

On the home stretch for this year's Haddenham Pantomime. Come and see it if you're in East Cambs, 8-10 January. Fun for all the family, with great songs, terrible jokes and a heartwarming message of love for all. Tickets online or on the door.

When you see a headline that sounds outrageous, just stop and think.

Read the article - that almost always debunks the headline!

Look out for the use of the word “after” - it’s a manipulation to make you believe cause by linking the action to most innocuous part of the story

Over the last year, myths about the Motability scheme have spread online and in the right wing media. Now, some of it is government policy.

In today’s Guardian, I set about finding the facts and why the idea of “free cars for the disabled” has taken hold. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Another example of why AI is not wonderful and will make our jobs harder.... #AI #CriticalLiteracy #ResearchSkills
Let me tell you a story. Perhaps you can guess where this is going... though it does have a bit of a twist.

I was poking around Google Scholar for publications about the relationship between chatbots and wellness. Oh how useful: a systematic literature review! Let's dig into the findings. 🧵
