Pam Bondi's tweets of mug shots of arrested people is itself an impeachable offense, a clear violation of their fourth amendment rights, and I hope they all sue the federal government and her and get millions.

This is, like much Trump garbage, obscene.

I refuse to become numb to the obsenities.

The college at which I'm employed, which has signed a contract with the AI firm that stole books from 131 colleagues & me, paid a student to write an op-ed for the student paper promoting AI, guided the writing of it, and did not disclose this to the paper. www.thedartmouth.com/article/2026...

The Dartmouth ran the article on Nov. 17 without knowledge that the College had been involved.

The evil is so obvious in this case that the CATHOLIC CHURCH is calling for ICE to be abolished. Let that sink in, especially if you recall the clergy sexual abuse scandal.

Dem leadership doesn't oppose ICE, at all, on principle. Just the aesthetics.

Between this and Walz's suggestion that the gestapo do midnight raids, it's very obvious unless you are heavily concussed and a nazi, that their only goal at all is to simply clean up the aesthetics for when it is their turn to play with the police state.

there is a specific tic in the way that centrist Dems address law enforcement:

they don’t understand that the interaction with police *is* the harm. they think a show your papers situation is neutral as long as you leave walking, but police interaction is itself traumatic. It’s terrifying.

Legitimately a feat of carefully calculated writing to issue a Holocaust Remembrance Day statement of this length without mentioning either (1) the people who perpetrated the Holocaust or (2) the people against whom they perpetrated it

1. From lung cancer to climate change, capitalist governments are notoriously slow to recognize and remedy the negative externalities generated by corporate activity.

Generative AI is no exception. Large language models are proving a disaster in numerous spheres of public life.

The Presidentialist model of science is bad for science *and* undemocratic. It introduces the type of instability that undermines long-term research agendas, and prioritizes the personal preferences of one man and his courtiers.

Scientists have been told to stay out of politics, but politics is very much not staying out of science. Scientists don't have to, and maybe shouldn't, be identified with a single party, but should be straightforward about the values that made American science such a success.

Ya'll it was likely a barn owl. 🤦‍♀️

I heard someone play a recording of one and it clicked. I will be VIGILANT this summer and see if it sounds right when I know what to listen for.

(Nature is a good distraction from the madness)
Animal sound ID request!

What animal is active at night, during summer months, in central WA that makes a sound that is like raaaaaaaaaa.

It is like a screech. Not too high pitched or loud. It sounds like maybe how someone would make a velociraptor noise.

Has been heard any time it is full dark.

ICE must be destroyed
I wish we could get to a point where the intent & competence are not so carefully contemplated for sooo long while they’re still just allowed to do what they want

It’s a great point for analysis

But the discussion continues to feel like they’re trying to excuse & allow more of the same

Feels moot
