Good-bye, Martin Parr. Last May we were waiting, and waiting, for supper and had a laugh or two, which was typical for him. One of the lights of photography has gone out. it was probably a flashgun.

I've been interviewed! (Michael W. Plant referenced many previous articles so I couldn't cut and paste - I had to really think anew.)

For those keeping score at home, the interim U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia was appointed illegally and is incompetent. And the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia - Albemarle County’s Robert Tracci - is also incompetent. Great things happening.

The City of Paris has had the good sense to ban rental scooters. The streets and sidewalks are safer, tidier, and much more pleasant to either walk or ride a bicycle than they were three years ago.

The Elizabeth Line in London is interesting because it is concrete proof that it is actually possible for the state in the UK to do something good, like just straightforwardly it's a useful addition to our public transport infrastructure that works well and looks nice. So why are most things crap?

I'm proud to be with these fine photographers in this great photo exhibition in the magnificent St. Anne's Limehouse. It opened last weekend and runs until January! Come on down and see the prints. The photographs are marvelous and the setting in one of Hawksmoor's finest churches can't be beat.

If you want to understand where we are, don't look first at voters or public opinion, look at how their knowledge of the world is constructed and mediated

It shouldn't be surprising that those who have the power to shape public discourse have a key responsibility in our current plight
