A piece done during a figure drawing session. Used ShinHanArt touch markers with Dr.Ph.Martin Blackstar Matte ink. The streaks are from the ink on top of the marker. I think it makes a cool effect.

Another drawing this time done with royal talens india ink and uniball white Signo gel pen. Great materials, I highly recommend. Especially the Signo, it made me burn my gelly roll pens as an offering.

WHO KILLED SARAH SHAW follows two content creators desperate to keep their show alive by investigating the murder of a teenage girl that has haunted a small town for 40 years.

TIFFANY (off-panel): I’ll never forget the moment I found out for as long as I live. 2 - Wide shot. Bird’s eye (or close to). An isolated country road surrounded by dead forest on either side. The station wagon trudges through the snow. Slow zoom in over the three panels. TIFFANY (op): My mother, god rest her soul, came through that front door right there with tears in her eyes. 3 - Pull in a little closer on the station wagon as it passes by something on the side of the road. TIFFANY (op): Before I could even ask her what was wrong she said… 4 - The station wagon continues out of frame, but the camera continues to pull in on that spot. What appears to be the outline of a body and blood lightly covered in snow can faintly be seen. The body should be face down and head pointed towards the road. There is no briarpatch. TIFFANY (op): “Tiffany, baby. They found her all tangled up in a briarpatch.” 5 - The camera stops and now the body buried in the snow is apparent. It’s a 16 year old girl named Sarah Shaw. Her left arm is outstretched as if she was reaching for the road. TIFFANY (op): “Sweet Sarah Shaw is dead.” 1 - Present day. A 52 year old woman named Tiffany Gloucek sits directly facing POV. This should be framed as a TV interview, because it is. She’s seen better days. Not the youthful teen she is remembering. Her partying days and pack a day habit have put her body on the decline. She is slightly overweight and her face has lines across it that grow deeper and longer by the day. Her dyed blonde hair is showing gray at the roots. She holds a lit cigarette in her hand. She sits in her living room, which is a tchotchke paradise. TEXT: October, 2022. TEXT: TIFFANY GLOUCEK. SARAH SHAW’S BEST FRIEND. TIFFANY: The day I found out she died, a part of me died too. 2 - Cut to Jesenya Ruiz sitting in a dining room chair across Tiffany. She holds a pen and notebook. Standing next to her behind the camera is Dave, the Cameraman. JESENYA: What else do you remember about that day? 3 - Tiffany doesn’t respond at first. Instead she takes a drag of her cigarette. SFX: fhhh 4 - She coughs into her closed fist. TIFFANY: HACK HACK HACK TIFFANY (con’t): It was the last Saturday of Winter Break…which means she had to’ve been killed the night of our basketball game. 5 - Close-up of her putting her cigarette out in the ashtray. TIFFANY (op-con’t): We had a big match-up against the neighboring town’s school. Pretty much everybody was there. TIFFANY (op-con’t): The Hardground Hawks and Gentry Generals have been rivals for decades, and rivalries run deep ‘round here. 1 - A sedan, some shitty rental, nothing nice, drives along along a Highway road surrounded by trees on either side. TIFFANY (op): That’s what I remember being most scared about — it could’ve been anybody. TIFFANY (op - con’t): At the same time, you have to understand what happened to Sarah, that ain’t something we’re familiar with. 2 - Inside the car we see Jesenya in the passenger seat and Dave driving. TIFFANY (op): Who could even do something like that? Who could kill an innocent girl? JESENYA: It would not surprise me if she was the one who actually killed Sarah Shaw. DAVE: We already know it was her neighbor, Marvin Rainey. DAVE (con’t): And we’re not here to solve anything anyways, Jesenya. We’re just here to tell these peoples’ stories. DAVE (con’t): Same as it ever was. 3 - Jesenya presents her case, we can see a New England Aster bush planted on the side of the road. JESENYA: False, Dave. Rainey was her alleged killer. Just because he disappeared six months later doesn’t mean he did it. JESENYA (con’t): Only means he likes to travel. 4 - Tight on Jesenya persisting. JESENYA: Now the “best friend” who remembers exactly what her mom said but forgets to mention that Sarah was a starter while she was on the bench? JESENYA (con’t): That’s suspect. 5 - Dave counters. DAVE: Even if that headline would sell, it doesn’t add up. DAVE (con’t): Did you see how much she smoked during the interview? She’s been doing that forever. I doubt she considered basketball as her golden ticket. DAVE (con’t): Ergo, you’re full of shit. 6 - Ext. They approach the main street we saw on page one but it’s been almost 40 years. It’s much more rundown. Looks like most stores are closed besides the bar. Only a few cars are parked around. It’s becoming a ghost town. JESENYA: Whatever, man. JESENYA (con’t): This town is a total bummer. I don’t blame Marvin Rainey for leaving.

a bored looking wizard sits in his little surf board rental shack near the entrance to an idyllic beach. he has a wizard vending machine connected next to his wizard surfing hut. it looks like theres not much foot traffic today. A two story building, painted off-white with navy blue trim stands to the left of a one-story stucco-covered shop that once appeared to have been a convenience store and deli, but is now directing patrons to the "Surf Hut" Surfing Supplies and rental store next door. AT the front door of the two-story a wizard, happy and waving appears to in high spirits for his surf-shop. A couple of palm trees frame the taller building, as well as a large leafed plant. There's an ice machine in front of the one-story building and next to it is a drinks vending machine advertising "WIZ COLA" and the machine is filled with various bottles, drinks, and elixirs. To the right of the machine is a trash can and next to that is a board with information about the beach down below the berm that makes up this shop's location. To the right of the board is a souple of signs indicating that swimming is permittable at the beach far below. A handful of beach umbrellas can be seen far below. The water is blue and welcoming with waves rolling into shore. Behind the Buildings is a parking lot which currently holds a small yellow car and an older looking camper van from which two bikini-clad witches had hopped onto their brooms. The first witch holds her broom parallel to her body, gently lifting off in her pink and periwinkle swim attire, her matching sandals and hat are stark against the billowing clouds in the sky. The second witch has a surfboard (a rather small one) tucker under her right arm. She appears to have landed on her broom, ready to zoom down to the water. Two Edwardian Era Girls, staring at one another under the lights of the London gaslamps, each wearing different styles of dress, and each hiding bouquets of flowers behind their backs. A few Wingulls fly by, and various beach umbrellas sit in the sun a little out of view.

From my experience of drawing sound effects by hand, I realised that you can easily make font-based sound effects more exciting as well—by exercising intentionality and control.
