Following up on that last repost, the reason why "ffi" is sometimes a single character in typefaces is that it's what's called a ligature, in which characters are merged to make them look better on the page, as seen here:

Absolutely confounded by critics I respect calling 2025 a bad year for films, and then I look at their end-of-the-year lists, and I realise that they mean English-language films.

More and more it's becoming clear that capitalists don't actually understand what "work" is.
Hard no to this: French publisher Harlequin has told translators that their work will now be done by AI. They can ‘revise’ AI translations at much lower rate. It’s a subsidiary of Harper Collins so treat this as a test for rollout elsewhere

Good piece! We go through a very similar compositional training process in Indian English-medium schools, and I tend to side-eye most "AI writes like this" statements because so many of us write like this.
