2025 goals:
1. Write. "Captain's log" work notes, tutorials, documentation, short stories, Symbaroum lore.
2. Stick to first principles. The best solutions are often the simplest ones.
3. Stop trying to be the hero. Mic drop moments are crutches, being consistently decent is a ladder.

An excellent read by Matthias Endler - Prototyping in Rust 🦀! It's not as hard as it initially seems, and it gives you an excellent runway to a great production ready application!

Remember kids, it's okay to `.unwrap()` and `todo!()` when you are prototyping 👏

I tried to put together an honest assessment of why we even care about weather balloons in a satellite world and why these cuts probably won't be noticed by the public 90% of the time. But the 10% of the time? That's a very, very, very big and concerning 10%.

There is a movement afoot to get the SI unit for momentum (kg m/s) named after her:
It is time to honor Emmy Noether with a momentum unit
I have been teaching physics, on and off, for 30 years now, and every time I get to momentum and start writing “kg m/s” for the unit, my students ask if there i

@emergentgarden.bsky.social YouTube finally recommended your channel to me today! youtu.be/34KhwO7Txhs I share many of the same interests and opinions as you and your projects are sick. The "idea garden" perspective on hobby coding projects really resonated with me. Great stuff

🦀 bevy projects update: haven't landed a new feature or prototype in weeks. I keep rewriting the same old things until I'm tired and log off. Normally the prototypes are the fun part too. Time to start a new project I guess

I spent almost 2 hours painstakingly copying the orbits of all 128 Saturnian moons from the announcement MPEC and reformatting them for visualization...

Behold, here are the orbits of ALL 128 MOONS OF SATURN. This isn't just a moon system—it's a literal asteroid belt around Saturn! 🧪🔭☄️

Dear diary,
How are you? I am fine.
Once again I had some great ideas before falling asleep! The only thing I remember is that I had them and they were great. Not what the ideas were.
Nominally,

Let's debunk this whole "space is hard" mantra.

Looking at all NASA-led missions launched since 2000, only 4 out of ~60 missions experienced total failures.

Two of these were due to issues with the commercial launch vehicle, & two were spacecraft issues.

That is a *93% success rate.* (1/n)

Dear diary,
How are you? I am fine.
Today I am trying to maintain existential hope amid the chaos and still tweaking my keyboard macros. I had an idea for another Rust project 👀 and am behind on my current Rust project. I am also behind on commitments I made while tweaking on caffeine.
Nominally,
