As well-meaning publishers try to navigate the coming storm of state laws against diversity, I hope they'll consider Timothy Snyder's Rule #1 (from his slim book ON TYRANNY).

Gollum as a character is Latin American-coded, so you might want to tone down the loathing.

Regret to report that former president of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has written a poem and GOOD LORD WHAT IS GOING ON IN THOSE TROUSERS?

Fascinated by the many, many spelling mistakes on this poster from the Prince Charles Cinema.

Who could have possibly predicted that Ryan Porteous would lose his head and do something idiotic. I mean, he’s built his entire career on stupid and reckless behaviour, but this is the Euros! #EURO2024

Picked up some stamps at the post office earlier. These are pretty cool! Good on Canada Post for celebrating comics.

Echo & the Bunnymen at the Commodore was a great gig, but when did it become okay to talk through an entire concert? Half the audience just seemed interested in chatting to their mates.

Very disappointed to learn that the lyric isn’t “Boys in bikinis, girls on surfboards” as I’d always thought.

Listening to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot for the millionth time and came across this nugget on the Wiki page. David Kahne not only thought the album wasn’t suitable for release, but must have heard Heavy Metal Drummer and not immediately thought “this could be a hit.” That whole saga is utterly baffling.

The news about @electricalwsop.bsky.social has hit hard. Oddly, I was listening to Kerosene almost exclusively on a loop last week. I know he hated being called a producer, but as a recording engineer he must be one of the most influential in modern music. Going to put on some Shellac now.
