I wanted to share probably the most important sermon I’ve given and it’s while I’m being arrested. It’s torture pure and simple what happens at #Broadview. I’m ok, though I was thrown to the ground and choked with my pectoral cross. A review of the video shows I was peaceful - did I deserve this?

It still boggles my mind that this history is so recent that the people who lived it are STILL ALIVE!
It’s useful for people of my generation to be reminded that this wasn’t that long ago. Ruby Bridges isn’t just still alive—she’s only 71, not ancient!
65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

This being the last post Alice made for herself makes me incredibly sad. We need more spaces for us. We need more places where voices like Alice’s are uplifted so that others can learn from the wisdom that needs to be shared.
It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

I just had a terrible realization about the whole issue with immigration and racism and all of that on the right, and that is that they view undocumented immigrants like they do felons - it is not a thing a person DOES or DID, but an inherent quality of person.

There comes a point in the generic asshole to supervillain arc where you have to decide that people hating you is good actually. It’s a form of ego protection, because if you were vulnerable to their dislike you might also question what you’re doing, and you’re not interested in that.
