So if you think your life is complete confusion
Because you never win the game
Just remember that it's a grand illusion
Deep inside we're all the same
We're all the same...

There is no strategy to this. None. He's obsessed with tariffs purely because it makes him feel powerful. Hallmark traits of malignant narcissism.
Congrats everyone, we now have 35% tariffs on Canada for no apparent reason

As usual, concocting his own imaginary reality to sustain his narcissistic delusion of the grandiose idealized self.
Trump: "One year ago our country was a dead country. We were going nowhere except down. We were the laughingstock all over the world. And now we're the hottest country anywhere in the world. That's all they're talking about is our country."

pretty weird how there's always billion dollars just lying around whenever ICE needs concentration camps but there's never any money when children need healthcare or a simple school lunch. oh well just one of those things I guess

Yes. Exactly this.
I'm betting Susan Collins voted against the Trump megabill after learning that Murkowski would vote yes, ensuring its passage. That way Collins took away a potential issue for a challenger in 2026 while not making Trump mad.
Collins specializes in votes that seem bold but don't change the outcome.

When the history books are written on this era, one of the defining themes will be how our institutions didn't just fail us; they were active participants in our demise as a country, and the corporate media is a veritable case study on this point.
Democrats have been asked to disavow Zohran more than Republicans have been asked to disavow the guy who murdered two Democrats.

Says a lot about how profoundly fucked up our political and media situation is right now.

This is why reporters wanted him to win. They don’t mind all the death, destruction, and suffering as long as they get to ask him questions (that they then don’t follow up on)
TRUMP: You have so many questions. Should we keep this going?

WHITE HOUSE REPORTERS: Yeessss! Yes! Yes! Yes!

TRUMP: This is the opposite of Biden

He looks awful. Tired, haggard. The orange paint on his face simply isn't doing its job.
Trump brazenly lies: "We're cutting $1.7 trillion in this bill and you're not gonna feel any of it. Your Medicaid is left alone. It's left the same."

The only conclusion one can draw from this is that Fox News finds its lies to be far, far more profitable than $787M or whatever amount they end up needing to fork over for any present or future defamation suits.
After having to fork over $787M for their 2020 election lies about Dominion, Fox News hasn't learned a fucking thing: Over the lies Fox News spread about Gavin Newsom's phone call w/the serial lying sociopath, Newsom's suing the Trump propaganda network for the exact same amount.

To say that this Supreme Court is corrupt and illegitimate (which it is) is to not even scratch the surface of its depravity. Truly a scourge on this nation's history.
when history reflects on how trump managed to so quickly and so thoroughly kneecap democracy, the role of the Roberts Court cannot be overstated. trump's an amoral monster, but his biggest successes were only possible thanks to conservative justices who would bless them

The Ku Klux Klan Acts (passed in 1870 & 1871 to protect 14th amend rights) were particularly focused on masked gunmen who violated the civil rights of Black people. We should remember this history when masked law enforcement ofcrs are deployed in our communities.

They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida.

If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.

Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.

ICE just arrested Brad Lander, the NYC Comptroller and one of the leading candidates for Mayor, without grounds.

He was conducting routine immigration court work, escorting individuals from hearings.

He asked ICE for their warrant - well within his legal rights.

This is political intimidation.
Whoa! NYC mayoral candidate and current city Comptroller Brad Lander seemingly arrested at the NYC immigration court while attending to escort someone attending their hearing.
Lander just got detained by federal agents as he tried to escort a man out of the courtroom. Lander was taken in an elevator with masked agents, along with one member of his NYPD security detail.

1. Every accusation is a confession. 2. To watch this clip from 2012 (or whenever it is) is to bear witness to his decline over the past decade. His voice and physical appearance are just much more frail and haggard now.
