Glad to see Polygon cover the resistance of game developers to generative AI--and to be able to speak briefly to one of the greatest dangers of this entire thing.

Gen AI doubles down on making MORE SPACE for production issues that *already make games worse.*

I really do hate the term 'metroidbrania'. I think so do many of you. Let's nip it in the bud before it becomes something people are financially invested in.
Against 'Metroidbrania': a Landscape of Knowledge Games
What are knowledge games? How do we relate them to each other? What sub-genres exist – and which ones might be implied?

Howard Dean’s political career was derailed when he made a weird noise on TV.

Rick Perry’s presidential ambitions were thwarted when he couldn’t name the three departments he wanted to eliminate.

But this fucking guy. What’s it going to take?

We need to hammer into the Good at Math guys that they are much easier to replace with a foreigner than the Good at Words people.
Part of the issue is that Good at Words people are generally inclined to accept that people are all different ways and to think that’s just fine. Good at Math people have been allowed too much room to think that only they have the thoughts that matter.

I can't tell you how many interviews I've done where I've been asked: If Trump's policies are so problematic, why are U.S. stocks rising so rapidly.

A bit of international context illustrates the real issue here.

U.S. stocks have dramatically underperformed other advanced economies.

I'm going to start putting together some free info and resources for indie game devs looking to self-publish. I see a lot of people making simple mistakes, and hear a lot about being overwhelmed by what they need to do.

Do folk have specific self-publishing questions they'd want answered?

"The president wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller" is extremely dark if you think about it. Like how many planes do you think he could crash in five minutes. I'm thinking at least three, definitely more if they just let him cook and didn't tackle him out of the chair
The President wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they've been through - and the way this administration has treated them from Day One - he has no business shitting on them now.

I am not fucking joking when I say the English-speaking video game world would be nothing without GameFAQs. Everyone and their mom used it (literally, my mom and all her friends). If you played video games in the 2000s you probably knew GameFAQs in the same way most people know, like, Wikipedia
Hey, happy 30th birthday GameFAQs! Launched on November 5th, 1995!

The earliest scrape I can find on Wayback is December 1996, but I doubt the site changed much. But yes, here it is in its earliest days as the Video Game FAQ Archive!

The sandwich verdict has a pleasing symmetry to it.

Members of this administration have been encouraged to commit crimes against the public, knowing that they’ll never hold each other accountable.

Why shouldn’t members of the public extend the same courtesy to one other?
straight-up jury nullification. this guy did it, confessed to it, and the jury instructions explicitly said that if he did it intentionally, it was assault.
