BONUS RULING: Judge Thomas Johnston, a George W. Bush appoiintee in West Virginia, used a recent ruling to warn of the dangers of defying due process for immigrants because of what it could also mean for Americans. It's worth a read.

Bad Bunny’s performance began in the plantation, featured broken electric poles, and ended by centering a hemispheric understanding of “América”—among many other things—and some Anglo journalists are like “his performance wasn’t political.”

This is why we need to be telling our stories.

Lo más hermoso y emocionante del show de Bad Bunny fue que mencionó a todos los países de América.

No se saltó ninguno, ni siquiera aquellos donde no se habla español.

Tried to find a live feed on YT for Bad Bunny. Only found scams that wanted to take me to the skid Rock show.

That tracks.

The main point I wanted to get across in this segment is the fact that Trump’s antiblackness has nothing to do with Black people or even the Obamas and everything to do with the depraved and pathetic need that white supremacists (still) have to cleave to a racial identity built on debasing others.

Timeline cleanse! I don’t promote my guy enough. This just dropped — one of my very favorites. Do NOT miss the storm, starting at the 6:39 mark. It’s a head-banger.

He reposted a video of a plane dropping feces on protesters. Do we really think sharing a vile, racist video will move the needle? Or taking down a vile, racist video will?

Here's @rickhasen.bsky.social detailing the scenario in which Trump uses search warrant to seize ballot boxes in a contested 2026 locale. This is more worrisome than ICE at the polls. Hasen also suggests ways to act against this now.

It's harrowing stuff:

I mean this was a known thing about him, for decades. Media coverage should be instead focusing on why TPUSA keeps platforming people who are supposedly at odds with their values. This is a story about the constellation of conservative media and what it says vs. what it does.

"Due process calls for those who have great power to exercise great restraint. That is the bedrock of a Democratic Republic founded on this great Constitution,” Kasubhai (the judge) said. “I think we’re losing that.”

Moreover, state and local leaders, who have worked hard to attract press and political attention to the abuses happening in Minnesota, understand that it is almost uniformly beneficial to have press interacting with observers - doing ridealongs, talking to us. Paranoia around press is harmful.

I see this everyday on my papers’ FB pages. That and a fundamental misunderstanding of criminal and civil violations.

Does anyone have a count of how many people were “doing it right” only to have the rules changed?
I genuinely have no idea how to convey this to the American people, but I think the biggest impediment to any kind of immigration reform is that people are convinced that "legal" and "illegal" are immutable, intrinsic categories instead of a rapidly-shifting arbitrary constellation of regulations.

I can’t even think of one appointee who’s merely been OK. Why would this one be different?

also I feel like we need a really aggressive progressive in office in 2028, or we're fucked.

Yep. Oregon had ONE case all last year. We already have three (two in Linn County) and just found in our poop in Corvallis. This does not bode well.
