Rewatching Idiocracy as a refresher just in case 2026 doesn't go how it should.

I keep seeing people's top ten horror reads of 2025 and they are putting old books on instead of current. Where's @chucktingle.bsky.social Lucky Day? Where's @sarahgailey.bsky.social Spread Me? Do not sleep on these.

As we enter holiday season where infrequent guests might encourage pets to escape, I want to remind everyone of @theoatmeal.bsky.social idea to beware of cats with orange collars, kitty convicts. If you see a cat with an orange collar OUTSIDE, it's an indoor cat that needs help. kittyconvict.com
Why you should put an orange collar on your cat - The Kitty Convict Project
Put an orange collar on your indoor cat, so others know when they've escaped.

Someone intercepted the birthday package I sent my mom and stole the valuable items, then delivered the pilfered box. I get that we are all hurting right now financially, but imagine being the elderly lady who opened up the only birthday package she got, only to find it empty. USPS, do better.

@crobertcargill.bsky.social If you're trekking out to the suburbs, I like Fair Game in Downers Grove. If you're also visiting comic stores in the city, go to Challengers Comics.

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

I don't know about the rest of you, but this is the year I'm embracing my grandmother's depression era survival skills. I'm repairing holes in clothes, messing around with the garden, and baking weekly bread.

Things I did waiting for my hair dye timer. Read the instructions several times. Clean all makeup brushes. Clean spouse beard brush. Label all contacts right or left individually. Contemplate the bathroom wood placard on the wall- "I like you just the way you are" with a 70s painting of a tree.

I have to say I'm disappointed the Criterion Channel didn't take the opportunity to highlight women directors in March for women's history month. They could even have used the films they already had.

So here's my Women's History Month Criterion Channel Collection. 31 films, for each day of March.

You get a choice to see the feed of videos. The app let's you open videos and pin it if you want the videos tab. Already that's different from other apps that forced it into your feed. Important difference for those with visual triggers for seizure or migraine.

We had to get in on the video action too — Bluesky now has custom feeds for video!

Like any other feed, you can choose to pin these or not. Bluesky is yours to customize.

📚 Library patrons! Please check out a book you plan to read someday, but not right now. We won’t be able to tell you haven’t read it, it’s good for our metrics, and it prevents good books from getting weeded when they still have a kindred spirit out there.
