Because of Marine Boy, until I was 7 I believed that you could breathe underwater by chewing a special gum that had oxygen in it…

Other than Doctor Who, Marine boy has to be one of my earliest memories of watching TV (largely because of the theme music).

The new Patrons-only episode of Telefantasy Time Jump is out now, in which @lizbethmyles.bsky.social and I chat about 1965's Marine Boy and the changes across three seasons of Lost in Space! Oh, the pain. #LostinSpace www.patreon.com/posts/telefa...

Er sorry I should have been clearer: order any of the books in the series and get an EXCLUSIVE ebook with bonus shenanigans involving our Fallen angel cast, a birthday party and a decidedly over-friendly magical fungus.

I’m just looking at the extra pages for Salvation’s Child, and I’m so proud of what our team have achieved. Plus @dylantodd.bsky.social is an amazing designer.

@lizbethmyles.bsky.social @paulcornell.bsky.social I found the original "Machine Stops" as a free listen on Audible. Only 1 hr 35 min. Read by Carey Mulligan, no less. My memory of it was correct: it does stay on the woman, and the son's adventures outside are told to her when they meet up later.

Perhaps "Patrolman" was his birth name, and he just went to court to change it with every promotion.

Some prop maker put "Frank" on an ID card that was readable on screen, without the producers' or Falk's knowledge. Falk always maintained that Columbo's first name is "Lieutenant."

Nora Charles (Faithful): 'Nick is so obviously worried about that woman from his past. I wish I could say to him that of course I don't think he expected her to leap on him. At least there's a bar.'

Frank Drebin (Faithful): 'While I was in that cage I had a lot of time to figure it out. The traitors were about to recruit me. Or they were keeping me in because my mysterious and charming nature kept the heat on me. But I was on to them. And that evening I was going to turn the tables.'

Harriet Vane (Faithful): ‘There he stands, his hand brushing a curtain, a classical statue before the light, and yet I must not go to him. It is such a pity that I must finally denounce him, but he shall be so sweetly forgiving of me and abashed of his meagre treachery.’

I'd like to think that Lt. Columbo would prevail but I think that his constant references to his wife would create the suspicion that she was also in there with him, leading to wrongful banishment.

Peter Wimsey (Traitor): 'I didn't see much point in mentioning my title, what? Having Harriet in here too, while not being able to cast as much as a wink in her direction and wondering what she makes of my every utterance, this is such divine torture. One tries to prevail. One is lost, rather.'

Frank Columbo (Faithful): ‘Such classy people, all of you. I ain’t used to living like this. I’m just this guy off the street, and you’d be right to banish me tonight, but before you do, there’s this tiny question that’s been bugging me…’
January 19, 2026 at 3:01 PM
Jane Marple (Faithful): ‘Oh dear, people do tend to underestimate me, don’t they? I’m afraid the identity of the traitors has been obvious since they made two small verbal errors. However, I shall wait for my moment. Stridency, it seems, is frowned upon by those acting upon mere instinct.’
