I have a few friends that have become ai evangelists (all in the exact same way) and I do have to admit that it does seem to be successfully democratizing psychosis and creating a lot of opportunities for people that didn’t previously have the ability or opportunity to lose their minds.

"Talent" is the kindling–it gets the thing going–but art is the actual work: chop the wood, pile it correctly, and **then** shave and spark the flint if you want to get a fire going. You can get a computer to make you an PNG of a roaring bonfire, but it won't keep you warm.

Art isn't the final result, it's the process that produces that final result. Also worth noting that "art" is only one letter away from "fart," because the best art results from farting around. Ergo, computers can't create art because computers can't fart.

I've been super wary of Shalvey for years now, mostly due to him being oddly chummy with ComicsGate when it started up, so this latest bombshell is unsurprising, but still very disappointing. Trans rights are human rights. The end.
