One Hundred and One Dalmatians is a gorgeous film. After 65 years, its design is still fresh.

Disney's artists went for a new, adventurous look -- one that Walt Disney himself opposed. We explore how they did it: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/designing-...

It's cool that these guys just use pepper spray casually now, against people who are wholly within their rights, without a moment's hesitation. Several shots of them using it as they climb into their cars and drive away, not even a pretense of urgency or need. Just a parting "fuck you" to them.
This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

MLK: "History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period...was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people"

The "appalling silence of the good people" has long inspired me to speak out. We need more of that today!

Serious people scoffed at idea that Trump could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and get away with it, but honest truth at this point is not only would Trump get away with it, the government would investigate the victim, their family, any politicians who stand up for them.
They're investigating the victim's wife, the victim's friends, the mayor and the governor too, but no, they're not even going to glance in the direction of the murderer.
BREAM: Is the FBI investigating the ICE agent who shot Renee Good?

BLANCHE: What happened has been reviewed by millions of Americans bc it was recorded. We investigate when it's appropriate. That is not the case here. We are not going to bow to pressure. So no, we are not investigating.

Every time the Trump regime uses the words "funded protesters" and "outside agitators" news outlets need to cut to this photo from last week.

ICE has invaded these communities. Outside agitators don't show up in their fucking bathrobes.

Four GOP Senators.

At most four Repubs in the House.

Together they could stop nearly all the mad-king's rampages. They would be known to history as Profiles in Courage. They might/would lose the next election. But people have sacrificed a lot more, for a lot less.
I can't repeat this enough.
I've said this before and I'll say it again.
It would only take a tiny handful of Republican Congress members or senators to stop the slide of America toward authoritarian fascism, but nope. They're all in.

Trump is selling pardons every week to people who pay $1-2 million to his PAC and is approaching 2,000 corrupt and disgusting pardons less than a year into his term, but yeah “no one is above the law.”

Trump has transformed the justice system into a Putin-style autocratic protection racket. The wealthy are not audited or investigated, if convicted they are pardoned. Political opponents are targeted. Unidentified masked agents grab people off the street, and protesters are shot.

Trump is trying to seize Greenland by extortion, announcing a tariff on our longtime allies unless they help him steal it. He also calls Greenland a “sacred piece of land.” 77 million Americans elected a madman who threatens world peace.
Trump just placed a tariff on most of the EU of 10% that will increase to 25% in June unless they agree to sell him Greenland.

This is mad king shit.

As it happens though, the framers of the US constitution did say it: in the 4th amendment, the 5th, the 10th, etc.

What they didn’t provide for is federal immigration enforcement of any kind, only “a uniform rule of naturalization.” Nor did they give the federal government a plenary police power.
It goes without saying that in the US you’re not supposed to have a masked secret police that snatches people off the streets without knowing if they’ve committed a crime. That’s about as basic a requirement for a democracy as exists.
Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.

"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

it's easy to start an investigation of walz and frey. indictments & convictions are orders of magnitude harder. but the goal is what's important and it's nothing that breaking the power of the states which is the only brake on trump's attempted tyranny

Babylon 5 was such a great series. It took politics seriously. I had forgotten how much the storyline foreshadowed what we’re living through now — right down to the Karoline Leavitt character. Hard to believe this aired 30 years ago!🎯
