I think it was very cool of Mega Man Star Force to make the traditional Proto Man / Zero archetype character a girl, thus forcing the writers to make a complicated female character with plot relevance and screen time.

This is a thing I've thought about a lot and why it's important to have media with predominantly (or entirely) female casts to force people (including the writers sometimes!) to engage with the idea that "girl" is not a character trait like "the smart one" or something
Oh definitely.
Like many others, they see womanhood as a character trait, and after Gunpei Yokoi did a last minute reveal of Samus' womanhood in the very first game, they had no idea how to resolve that "character trait" with a badass yet caring space bounty hunter.

It's ironic that although Super Star is the combat-focused Kirby game, the boss design is pretty quantity over quality, in that they're all short bosses with most having one gimmick while the non-combat focused Dark Matter trilogy has some great boss design with varied attacks and multiple phases.

Not a Metroid fan but seeing redditors say "Metroid appealing to people who don't like Metroid is good! It needs to sell well!" just makes me more sad than anything. People think gentrifying video games for profit is the progressive take.

I wish modern Pokemon criticism wasn't so graphics focused. The best graphics ever would not fix the small volume and excessive streamlining to the extent it defeats the point of some of the game design.

Again, if Animal Rights didn't make 99% of the population activate their fight, I'd love to point out how it intersects with the double standards between sex and violence and how fiction can't make people agree with something they inherently don't want to agree with.

In a lot of ways other leftists chose this path folks. They shrugged and didn’t care when Patreon banned a ton of hypnosis and TF creators, or when YouTube started their ASMR crackdown. Now it’s coming for queer porn creators, more and more. Who will stand up?

Mega Man's portrayal of the Maverick Hunters is weird because you can never tell if them being upholders of an oppressive system was a fully intentional self-aware writing decision of Capcom or not.

I think "Pokemon was always easy baby game and anyone complaining about how easy the 3DS/Switch games are dumb" take would be a lot more convincing if this fandom was actually successful at acting like all the games are equally easy instead of complaining everything before XY is a grindfest.

"Content" is a blatantly misleading term to use for fanworks. Fanworks are the antithesis of content; content is produced for individual gain and consuming, whereas fanworks are created out of inspiration and the communal experience.
