While I'm rambling on about Persona, it is quite sad how safe and naive the writing of the franchise steadily became the moment P-Studios took over. For example, nothing in 3 and onwards ever made me as uncomfortable as this optional line of dialogue from Persona 2.

I visit English Social Media, I see Westerners fight tooth and nail for how "fujoshi" isn't a problematic word. I visit Japanese Social Media, I see every Japanese person invested in social issues refuse to use "fu" labels and call themselves "shippers" instead.

The amount of fans who played the games and just walked away with "Cool Luca Blight! True Rune lore!" is disappointing as it is but anyone who complains about racial diversity in Suikoden definitely isn't paying attention considering III has a direct portrayals of human racism and him as a protag

I see some people genuinely like the Asbel and Cheria romance and I'm not gonna go up to them and fight them but internally I'm just "How?!?!?! It reeks of this kind of writing. Grrr"

Next time you claim that the Johto games require too much grinding to beat and that gen 2 original mons are too weak to use, just remember that these are the kinds of enemies you face in the game.

Every time there's discourse about a family-friendly video game's difficulty, there's always someone who goes "you can't complain it's too easy, it's a kids game so it's supposed to be easy!" and everyone else eats it up. I just think.. have gamers today already forgotten about... them!

It sucks being a walking contradiction of loving queer romances but also thinking romance genre stories are boring.
However, it makes me appreciate all the more the existence of non-romance shows that still feature a queer romance as the leading ship.

Seeing "Kirby is void" being a debated topic in Kirby fandom is funny because I remember when Star Allies was brand new, an anime-only fan was using it as an example why the game lore is dumb by asking "If Void is Kirby.. then who am I playing as?" and saying HAL was just unironically saying this.

One pet peeve is mine is when people outside Kirby fandom claim Right Back at Ya just isn't accurate by modern standards or was based on the older games. Even based on the games released at the time, it wasn't a faithful portrayal of the cast in their source material.

Japanese Twitch streamers telling me my Japanese is so good they thought I was an actual Japanese person when I'm actually constantly proofreading everything I type and quadruple checking the dictionary to see if I'm using the words correctly.

I'm firmly in the "the writer determines who wins, make your own story on how the fight would go" camp of powerscaling but video game mechanic-based powerscaling is fun and hilarious. Yes I think Kirby could no diff Goku by doing this, how do you prove me wrong? You can't.

I feel like people only say this with Pokemon because lots of people are under this impression the older games are magically impossible to defeat without hours of level grinding. You can do that to lower the difficulty but if you meaningfully interact with the mechanics, you can win without it.
