The delight of Al fresco dining in Wellington on a warm, still spring evening but getting bitten by bugs because there’s no wind! 🤓

Tis one of my favourite flowering seasons - Peonies! I don’t have them in the garden 🌱 but one day I hope to plant some, meanwhile I make visits to my favourite Dairy (corner store) to buy cut flowers with much delight!

Apologies Pōneke Wellington, I’ve changed my duvets over so we are on the summer duvet, so the likely impending cold snap will probably be my fault! 😂

I love good food, and sometimes I’ve dined at Michelin starred restaurants. I can’t imagine anything less New Zealand than Michelin when it comes to our food scene. We have a Hats system that works already. I don’t think having Michelin stars will draw people to NZ. I want a refund on my taxes!

On the ferry Kiwi old mate, who lives in Fiji 6months then heads back to NZ for 6 months, chatting to Americans about all sorts (state of the world) and he says:

So if you need help, be mindful that the people who say no may not be being callous, they may just not have enough bandwidth.

I have not known anyone who has had a great 2025. I hope you're out there. But we all seem to be having a shit time.

So look after yourself. And then look after others.

Duuuuude! The Fijian Sea Turtles like to tease, no sooner have they popped their head out and then they head back under! So lovely to see them though!

Snorkeling over a coral reef in Fiji when Hubs sees a kiddo with a GoPro whacking coral while filming. Hubs taps him on shoulder and points to surface and tells kiddo not to damage the Coral. Parents?! No idea. It’s a blimmin privilege to explore such natural sights, can we not teach kids that?!

🧵Spotted at a Mask Carnivale in Aotearoa New Zealand:

A dreamy young human (7?) is participating in a haka but he's a bit distracted.
But it's okay.
His friend is at his side.
Hip bumping him and reminding him how it goes.
Yes!
He's got it now!
Eyes wide.
Face fierce.
He's in the zone. (1)

Last day of my contract, and back to (f)unemployment hopefully only for summer, and arrived to this on my desk 🥰
Been great to work after a 7 month unemployed patch last year.

This is an entertaining read!
The only Chelsea Winter book I own is Supergood because of the plant based recipes, as I wanted to reduce my meat-heavy repertoire, those Italian genes 🧬 are strong - chicken is vegetarian 😜 to them!
'She’s 40, twice-separated, now a solo parent, and we are eating her feelings.' The sage of Karori on the Taylor Swift of the NZ consciousness.

New from me: Just eight of the Government's 17 Roads of National Significance have already seen costs blow out by $5.1 billion - before any shovels are even in the ground.

The full programme would cost $44-$54 billion on the latest numbers.
