Not only did federal goons show up to try and intimidate our governor, they did so on hallowed ground. Gov. Newsom was speaking at the Democracy Center at the Japanese American National Museum, which I helped found so we do not repeat the horrors and injustices of the past. Shameful.

60 years ago, when Black civil rights activists marched to Montgomery from Selma, Alabama to demand voting rights, they were met with police violence.

We honored their sacrifice and recommitted ourselves to the fight at the 60th Selma Jubilee.

Selma Jubilee revelers annual trek across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Alabama reminds us why we can never stop advocating for enfranchisement for Black Americans.

As predicted, women in New Hampshire had a hard time voting yesterday because of the new proof of citizenship law:

“It doesn’t have my married name on it,” she said. Town voting officials then sent her away a second time, to get her marriage certificate.

NH’s new ID requirements send some would-be voters home to grab passports, birth certificates
The law requires all new voters to show proof of their U.S. citizenship. For some, that meant making multiple trips to and from the polls before finally casting a ballot on Tuesday.

One thing I'm fucken sick of hearing is that people on the poverty line "don't want handouts."

Well, the rich take hand outs. Maybe they're rich bc they were offered handouts. Maybe they're rich bc they take them.

This "shame in receiving free money" for the poor but not the rich makes me SO MAD

On this Day of Remembrance, we honor the 120,000 Japanese Americans unjustly imprisoned during WWII because of their heritage. Their resilience remind us to never forget the lessons of history. We will continue to fight for justice, equality, and civil rights for all.

For all those who voted for Trump because of the economy, how is this helping the price of eggs?
News Analysis: Once a critic of nation building, President Trump now envisions taking over Gaza, driving out its Palestinian population and transforming the coastal enclave into "the Riviera of the Middle East."

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

Okay, I want to say it again for anyone who needs to hear it right now:

Yes, calling is better for getting in touch with your reps. But right now? DO IT HOWEVER YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE.

I'm really concerned that the emphasis on calling right now is stopping people from getting in touch.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Every resident of Illinois should know their rights.

I intend to protect those rights and ensure our state laws are followed.

Just FYI, administrative warrants (like the ones used by ICE) are not judicial warrants (used by cops, signed by a judge).

You do NOT legally have to open the door for an ICE officer with an administrative warrant *no matter what the ICE officer says.*

What if we trained people not to understand, assess, and retain information by making everything freely available on the internet, then enshittified the internet so that no one understands, assesses, and retains accurate information? That would be amazeballs! 🙃
I asked Google “what is the opening line of Toni Morrison’s novel Song of Solomon?” I know it roughly but I wanted the exact wording.

Google now inflicts AI responses on all searches. I was startled by just how incorrect the AI response was. Like, my god. Is this what people are using????
