A really interesting post that puts James Watson in context.
Watson's original title for The Double Helix was Honest Jim.

I think it was honest, but only in the sense that it revealed Watson and not reality.

He was an ambitious, arrogant, misogynistic, and opportunistic man who managed to get himself into the right place at the right time.

All set up for Malta Comic Con tomorrow! A remarkably chill set up, and we've already chatted with some lovely artists.
Let's see what tomorrow brings - I'm looking forward to it!

Well worth the read. The fact that you study old things, doesn't automatically make you a historian.

You tell people to shut up or fuck off enough times and they just might do it.
Also fun that they refer to "AMs" in the linked article. Nice to know that they're on the ball and taking the election seriously.
"We'd have won if not for those pesky polls"

Claiming Lab > Plaid switching is just about Reform is really unhelpful to Labour. Unhappy Labour voters have switched to Plaid in elections long before Reform (or UKIP) were on the scene.

And the rubbish about YouGov 🤯

Between this and the Financial Times charts showing an "explosive growth" in Reform Ltd. support by carefully ignoring previous Farage vanity vehicles, the narrative is really creaking today.
Amazing

NFTs were the dream of capital without production; AI is the dream of capital without labour.
They're pushing so hard for AI because (when hypothetically fully functional) it allows wealthy access to skill while restricting those with skill from accruing wealth. It uses theft of the past to steal the future from humanity and give its riches to the already rich

Just got the settlement from the Horizon scandal.

My dad died when I was young. My mum struggled on with the village Post Office for a few years, then lost it due to "accounting errors".

She turned to drink, died in a house fire in 2011 - a dropped cigarette.

Admission of liability feels hollow.
