I don't think I've come across a poem that taps into my ethos when it comes to navigating queer community within the context of a hostile world as much as "We Have Enough Dead Friends" by Lena Oleanderson.

I strive to make my home a sanctuary where other faggots feel safe and cared for.

I want so much to be more active on here, but my brain works in 2000 word essays. Distilling meaningful things down to short posts is...difficult.

“I don’t care if they ban porn. I don’t watch porn.”
They’re not interested in banning porn. They’re interested in banning PEOPLE, from existing.
Michigan lawmakers have introduced a bill prohibiting the any "depiction or description" of trans people or trans existence online, including it in a bill banning "pornographic" material

The bill would completely erase trans people online, equating them with porn.
Total porn ban proposed by Michigan lawmakers
Some states have moved to require age verification to ensure only adults are watching porn, but no states have outright banned the viewing of pornographic material.

Marginalized people are killed every day of the year for political reasons, but our lives don't matter, to the ghouls in charge the only death that matters is when its one of the famous and powerful bigots like them.
It’s telling that it’s mainly cis, straight, able-bodied people crying, “How dare someone lose their life over politics!” That reaction shows they’ve never had skin in the game. For them, politics is abstract. For the rest of us, politics is survival—how we navigate the world just to stay alive.

The Nation pulls NO punches, from @espiers.bsky.social

"There's no requirement to take part in this whitewashing campaign. Refusing to join in doesn’t make anyone a bad person. It’s a choice to write an obituary that begins “Joseph Goebbels was a gifted marketer and loving father to six children.”
Charlie Kirk’s Legacy Deserves No Mourning

Shout out to everyone only now learning that "Albert Einstein was reclusive at the end of his career, shunning public engagements."

Really meant,

"For the last *20 years* of his career, Einstein opposed US racism by only speaking publicly at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

For me, it was Twin Peaks. The sense of a fragile reality that characters could fall through the bottom of at any moment really resonated deeply with me. I also related to Laura Palmer's story in ways that only made sense when I started my transition nearly 30 years later.
Having lots of trans feels today, so here's a prompt

In I SAW THE TV GLOW (2024), the genderqueer main characters spend their teen years dissociating into a work of pop fiction: a TV show called "The Pink Opaque"

What was YOUR "Pink Opaque" (movie, show, novel, comic, etc) when you were a #teen?

I'm following a lot fewer tech news sites than I used to, but I was pleased to see this statement from @macstories.net.

Another thing I think I'll have to tweak: when I made the move here I took advantage of a couple of starter packs, but now that I've followed so many people on my own, I might need to manually curate those lists for myself--my feed is too crowded to stay on top of. I'm overwhelmed...

Hmm. I keep getting followed by really neat people (hi, really neat people!) despite not having posted very much. I'm more a 2000-word essay sort of poster, so I've been mostly lurking on here. But maybe I can use the cool people as an excuse to get a bit more concise?

Now I am watching the Blu-ray of THE PEOPLE’S JOKER

I’m still on the menu, which is turning out to be its own short film

Vera has already sniffed poppers on camera and read aloud the cease and desist that Warner Bros sent her

Here’s where we’re at now:

Seems the guy's only gotten worse since I ditched Twitter back in 2019. Click through to find a handy moderation list to block all of his minions.
A request for cis allies:

Report and block Jesse Singal. In addition to his highly problematic history in journalism, he's now actively calling on his Twitter followers to harass trans women he disagrees with on Bluesky.

Two weeks later, I still find myself pulling out my name-corrected university diploma at least once a day. Big change after the original with my deadname sat in the closet gathering dust for nearly 30 years.

I think I'm reclaiming the good from that time instead of letting the bad dominate.

On the one hand, getting an autism diagnosis gave me answers. But on the other, it gave me no actual solutions.

I am apparently going to torture myself right down to the wire on my grading this semester. On top of that, my food aversions have kicked into high gear.

Infuriating. Draining.

This is the most devastating part. Forcing trans people into bathrooms they do not appear the gender of leaves them at immense risk for violence, especially trans masc folks.
