Placodonts are amazing! Exhibit A: Cyamodus orientalis. And no, this is NOT a turtle.

This is an illustration for my book (in preparation) You can see this one and another Placodont I reconstructed for my book in a new post exclusive for my patrons

If you are a creative in the UK, I urge you to take part in the consultation about copyright law.

AI companies are attempting to loosen those laws so as to use your work without asking.

Now is your chance to say something about it, directly: www.gov.uk/government/c...
Copyright and Artificial Intelligence
This consultation seeks views on how the government can ensure the UK’s legal framework for AI and copyright supports the UK creative industries and AI sector together.

Low-relief paper sculpture of a pigeon wing. It was frustratingly difficult to take a good picture of this. At some point, I'd like to attempt a more detailed wing, but this 'quick' one answered my craving to make it at the time.

Please don't call what RFK Jr. and Jay Bhattacharya are going to do medieval. It's not medieval. It's nothing like the Middle Ages. People in the Middle Ages were happy to try all kinds of things to not die of the plague and if you'd given them antibiotics and vaccines they would have loved it.

Less than two days to go on the Kickstarter for my art book 'Other Worlds'!

I thought I would share some of the process art I have included in the book, which offers insights into how I work.

I created this painting "Dinosaur Parade" in 1990, before I invented the whole concept of Dinotopia. I just wanted to give a glimpse of a lost empire that humans shared with peaceful dinosaurs.

Jumping through that picture frame and living inside the painting changed my life.

Crested #pterosaur, #Nyctosaurus, without, and with, unlikely skin sail. Colour scheme borrowed from Graphium doson (I think – it was a few years back). Did this for a book that I never got beyond planning.

Ok, so the news is still new. I have a new paper out today naming a cool new pterosaur: Skiphosoura bavarica (Bavarian sword-tail), from the Late Jurassic of Southern Germany. The full paper is here with all the info: www.cell.com/current-biol...

This animal is really important for understanding pterosaur evolution, but let's start with the basics. It's a member of a group called the darwinopterans and at 2m wingspan it's the biggest known, but the skeleton is also superbly preserved and in 3D which is incredible.

I feel like popular media fails to prepare people for fascism because its always like... One Guy and a robot army, and you beat them to win.

In reality its almost half of the people around you, they aren't just machines, and they quite like it.
