ICE has grabbed so many people from their vehicles that there are abandoned cars across Minnesota.

This tow truck driver returns the cars for free as a public service, and he’s been getting death threats.

They hate the helpers.

Which is why must keep helping.
Twin Cities tow truck driver returns abandoned vehicles to families after ICE arrests
Juan Leon sends a "chase" car to check out where abandoned vehicles are located and arranges discreet drop-offs. Since late December, he estimated they have dropped off 250 cars.

I do want to shout-out my fellow sociologists, who have collectively created a discipline so woke that not a single one of our introductory textbooks can make it past Florida's censors.

Great work everyone.

There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection.

HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.

Even if you don't have time to read all 83 pages of Judge Reyes's opinion barring the Trump administration from rescinding Temporary Protected Status for 350,000+ Haitians, please at least check out the four-page introduction.

It's a tour de force:

A good thing happened today: Haitians in Springfield, Ohio and elsewhere are (for now) safe from the planned ethnic cleansing operation. This happened because people came together — organizers, reporters, and those who care — and made it happen. Let’s take the win and continue the work.

Justice Frank Murphy's vehement dissent, condemning the Court for upholding FDR's Exec Order 9066 in resembling "the abhorrent and despicable treatment of minority groups by the dictatorial tyrannies which this nation is now pledged to destroy" – is worth revisiting. 3/

Mask Off: The Not So New American Fascism
Contemporary fascism is simply neoliberalism with its multicultural mask off. We have been heading in this direction since the latter half of the 20th century, at least.

you gotta celebrate them leaving.

they can't win their fights. they can't win their war.

the fascists's only hope is wanton and inchoate violence, bloodying enough noses & performing street executions on the hope people become too scared to show up and take the next hit and it still isn't working.

Centrists love to quote the bit in 1984 that says,“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

For some reason, they think it only applies to the GOP.
The House voted 341 to 79 to fund Trump's war-mongering foreign policy agenda.

Only 57 Democrats voted NO.

I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building.

Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained.

The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.
JUST NOW: Huge mass of agents in a standoff, weapons drawn as Reps. Ilhan Omar, Angie Craig, and Kelly Morrison attempt to conduct congressional oversight at the Whipple Building, which has been HQ for thousands of ICE agents.

One thing about Minneapolis is most everyone knows where to go and what to do. I don’t generally see locals doom-posting. They’re out at vigils and protests or running mutual aid. My block leader and neighbors have already disseminated information about where to direct resources, effort, and energy.

When it collapses it will seem sudden, all at once. But if something doesn't change soon this regime is finished. Keep striking, keep fighting, keep pushing where you can, keep building resilience and mutual aid, keep caring for one another and building the world you want to live in.
