The current Court majority is a classic captured court.

The Justices pick the outcome they want, and work backwards from there, inventing and disregarding legal theories on the fly in the process.
GOP SCOTUS first explicitly applied "major questions" in 2022 and it's already in shambles. Roberts & Barrett struggle to explain why it exists; Gorsuch's extremist version is untethered from reality; Thomas's "core" is invented out of thin air; Kavanaugh & Alito essentially admit it's Calvinball.
Hilariously, Gorsuch and Barrett have a side-battle over the major questions doctrine, with Gorsuch writing a 46-page solo concurrence saying it's a substantive canon and Barrett saying it's a mere tool of statutory interpretation. So these two can't even agree on what the "doctrine" actually means.

Every news story is now “State Senator Randy Pervert (R-Springfield) was indicted on 8 counts of lewd behavior with a child under 12 and has been put on paid leave from his two jobs as Border Patrol liaison and youth pastor at First Presbyterian (PCA) where parishioners say they were ‘blindsided.’”

Trump has turned the Department of Justice into his own personal vendetta machine. And Pam Bondi has been happy to go along for the ride.

We're witnessing the most egregious politicization of the DOJ in recent memory — and I lived through the Nixon years. www.nbcnews.com/politics/jus...
Large banner of Trump unfurled at Justice Department headquarters
The DOJ has traditionally operated with a degree of separation from the White House to prevent the department's powers from being abused for political purposes.

When Tom Homan, Trump and other Republicans defend the masking of ICE agents, I can't help but think of Orson Welles announcing on his radio show his intention of identifying the South Carolina police officer who violently attacked and blinded the uniformed Black veteran Isaac Woodard in 1946.

You're saying that Trump's tariffs not only (1) increased costs on Americans (2) crippled industries that lost export customers, but now also (3) did not work at all and only INCREASED the trade deficit (probably because of 2)?!?

It's almost like Trump is a moron.

We will never forget those that failed to stand strong during this assault on our country.
This is yet another example of a private institution capitulating to the federal government’s assault on transgender rights. In the face of these attacks, New York City will continue to be a refuge for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Today is a good day for people to be reminded that we actually *can* hold the wealthy and powerful accountable, we just have to put in the work to get there.

If your elected official isn’t willing to put in the work, kick their ass out and find someone who will (that might end up being you!)
