So much of our infrastructure, planning, environmental, and road safety measures seem to be based around politicians' fear of slightly inconveniencing easily-angered motorists. Pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users are barely considered in their calculations.

Seriously WTF is wrong with some people.
Today's bike ride was marred by a guy in a ute *singing* homophobic slurs whilst waiting at the lights and guy in a ute (it's always fucking ute) swerving onto the opposite side of the road to try to scare us and then shouting obscenities as they passed.

At least in A Canticle for Leibowitz the US had a nuclear exchange to blame for entering a new dark age; this, by contrast, is self-inflicted.
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

This is completely disgusting. Today, the CDC updated their vaccine safety page. It now says:

“The claim "vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism”.
