The word Spell originated in Old English, some 1000 years ago. BUT back then the word meant Story.
So, it is a linguistic truth that to tell a story is to cast a spell, and to cast a spell is to tell a story.
Every story we tell ourselves and others, big or small, is true magic ✨

Short thread in comments but I'm totally unyielding about this. A trans woman telling you she is a woman isn't lying to you just because she left out the first bit. It means she's SCARED that IF she TELLS YOU you might KILL HER FOR IT. If you weren't attracted to her in the first place then it....
i don't think transphobes have the right to exclude trans women from their dating pools in the first place. they're not in any danger there. we are.

I genuinely think that trans people need to fight a bigger fight about research ethics governing our treatment. "Trans rights are human rights" is vague.
No research without consent is specific.

It's right that trans people should be able to refuse to be subjects in research being conducted with an aim of reducing their options in life, reducing their comfort and wellbeing.

Therapy today was *hard*. No warm up, launched straight into big stuff, and wasn't able to find the correct answer to fixing all my problems, which means I didn't win.
Anyone have any chest codes for winning therapy, which is totally something you can do?

100% this. If I've told you I like, love, or appreciate you, I meant it. I'm just a disaster right now. I'll get back on track at some point. I hope you'll still be here when I figure shit out--but if not, I get it. I will only ever wish you well.
Neurodivergent friendship is a funny thing. You can find your people and have amazing connections with them, but be too overwhelmed with life to stay in touch, but miss them dearly and feel lonely, but be too burnt out to even send a text. 😩

1. allow yourself the luxury of a hopeful thought
2. learn to take care of yourself, only then can you be trusted to take care of others
3. losing teaches more than winning
4. wisdom over mammon, every time
5. judged by the measure of love

I want every non transfem person to sit and think about what it means that almost every single transfem I know has more than one horror story and will treat it like it's normal

It is a peculiar quirk of the Australian social security system that when given the option to either engage with Centrelink for the disability support pension, or work to death for slightly better yet still poverty level wages, many women will choose the non-centrelink option, and try to hug it
We're working on chronic pain stuff & my therapist tried to geently float the idea that I might be too disabled for conventional employment so I went "oh! dw, you're not the only doctor to say that" and she asked who else had so I said "several GPs" and she... you know those motionless double takes?

I've long criticised the dehumanising and patriarchal partner income test embedded everywhere in the Australian welfare state. The tax on love really does hurt families, and has a real impact on relationship formation or termination.

But it has long gone global already?
That the UK did not have it for a while and it was at risk in the USA, does not mean it's not broadcast around the world? Seriously what is this Anglo centric headline
"In 2019 190m children viewed over 160 versions of Sesame Street in 70 languages."
