Inordinately fond of sheep. Crafty, gardener and a reader. I own a scythe and I'm not afraid to use it! Doomer boomer.

Just had a Tui come into the house here on Waiheke. That was a novelty.

Is it just me, or do funerals make other people want to hit people? I don't ever want to hit people at any other time.

I am heading back to Waiheke in a few days and I feel I should get myself a bathing suit to make the most of beach accommodation, but I am NOT GOING SHOPPING FOR A BATHING SUIT WHILE IT IS SNOWING!

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

Third time lucky! I'm on my way home after a fortnight in Auckland ended up being a month. And yes, I know the small loquat tree I have in my hand luggage is an invasive weed in Akd, but it's allowed in Otago!

Elderly parents living on a pension - also very proud so I signed them up for a bonus card with the nearest supermarket. Every few weeks I put money on it and then they get asked if they'd like to use their balance - they think it's from points they've collected.

Never seen a single Star Wars film or related TV programme.
I have not seen an episode of The Wire or of either version of The Office
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

This morning I was exclaiming whatever outlandish product would they come up with next after reading the article about wine for cats; this afternoon I had the answer when my nephew came back from the shop with an ice cream in the form of a crumbed chicken drumstick.

This sort of thing isn't new, but technology makes it so much easier. Nothing is sacred anymore.
Showed up a bit early for our local library monthly book sale. There were a lot of people all lined up. What I didn't realize was how many of them were "book scanners." As soon as the doors opened they ran to their designated sections with little handheld scanners, scanning every single book...
