this kind of sanding off of edges is omnipresent because the goal is always to reduce everything to a nice consumable brand that suits the simplistic world view of fascists
The Flanderization of ghibli in the public mind is just so insane to me. Acting like it’s entirely wholesome and cutesy but is really overtly anti capitalist, depict the horrors of war and environmental decline, and have TONS of body horror and depictions of death and disease. it legit annoys me

After three months in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, a Filipino green-card holder who had been arrested at Seattle-Tacoma Airport has finally gone home.

This lady has been legally in the U.S. for 50 years. She was detained by ICE in *February* when coming home from a trip to the Philippines and only just released last week.
