JD Vance was just ruthlessly booed at the Olympics during the Opening Ceremony when he was shown on the screen. But you would never know by watching the broadcast on NBC.

Our capitalists don’t envision automation as a bridge to human prosperity, otherwise they’d advocate for the types of fundamental societal changes that would make that possible such as UBI or investment in infrastructure through taxing their income. Their vision for automation is a robot with a whip

Did the sims just put everyone's existing sims families in a randomizer for the new family trees? My daughter is apparently my wife and my sister is apparently a distant relative and my aunt is apparently my great grandmother. Typical sims.

Question. Why did the doctor reviewing my MRI of my spine said that it looked "Normal" and then write after that, names multiple bulged discs and multiple areas where spinal stenosis is happening lmao. Why is that.

again we do not really do a good job of explaining how wealthy people like Jeff Bezos are

his net worth is $253.2 billion.
so he could take one million dollars, and just light it on fire
and then do it again tomorrow
and again the day after that
and then do it every day for 693 years and 8 months

I'm the same. Currently downloaded a random first book of a series where I read half of it in one night so it was good. But so far I haven't touched it again cause I'm just not feeling it.
With all the reading I'm doing this year, I dug up my library card and redownloaded Libby. It's actually hard for me to borrow books from libraries; I'm a mood reader, so I often want to read a book when it's not available but won't when it finally is. We'll see if I'm successful this year. 😅

-stares into the void-
I've just seen the word "unalive" used earnestly in a non-fiction book that is specifically written to deconstruct harmful tropes built in to modern romance novels.

Girl you explicitly talked about sexual violence not 20 pages ago what the fuck do you MEAN "unalive"?!?!?!?

Although ICE agents absolutely should not be wearing masks, acting like the brutality will stop because their faces are showing is quite naive. Police forces brutalize people all the time with their faces outs, name tags, badges and body cams. The only solution is no ICE.

If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.

Democracy dies in oligarchy.

It's still publicly acceptable to discriminate against disabled folk, and that needs to fucking change.
Every bloody day we're barely even treated as an afterthought. People happily sling slurs and act like we're being "overly woke" cuz god forbid we don't like seeing our lives used as a punchline.
Just a vent post but fuck my a hate how some of the largest 'lefty' creators just give absolutely ZERO fucks about disabled folk, like they can be great on other issues, but refuse to other learn, research or give a shit about disabled issues.

Hell most of em still use the r slur or derivatives.

"Won't someone let go of the children from concentration camps?"
GO GET THEM. They aren't just going to suddenly listen to you and do what you say. You need to use your power as an elected official and GO GET THE CHILDREN physically. Bring the news. Sit there, do. Hunger strike, SOMETHING.

no better example of the purely cosmetic function of liberal political leaders than this stuff, the people in charge begging SOMEONE ELSE to do something
They’re taking children from Minnesota and locking them up like criminals in detention camps in Texas.

For the love of God, send our kids home and bring an end to this nightmare.

"Democrats agreed to the new package that separated DHS funding from the five other agencies—with a two-week deadline to negotiate the DHS reforms—and it passed the Senate on Friday, hours before funding lapsed at midnight."

Except- They're just going to not negotiate. That's what Republicans do.

Our free press.
Our right to assembly.
Our freedom of speech.
Our right to due process.
Our right to free and fair elections.
Our protections from illegal search and seizure.
Our private data.
Our warrantless entry protections.

All of it disappearing.

"ICE guys are pretty miserable. I don’t think morale is particularly high for them. They’re freezing, they’re getting shouted at. They can’t go anywhere without being tailed by 5 cars. They get out and immediately there's a crowd of 100 people shouting at them, blowing whistles as loud as they can."
