Just so everybody understands, Booker has been speaking cogently about the issues the entire time and Strom Thurmond famously spent hours reading from the encyclopedia, because segregationists were and are dumbshits
If Sen. Cory Booker makes it to 7:19 p.m. EST, he will break segregationist Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond's record for his 24 hour 18 minute Senate floor speech against the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

TW: DV details

I've been doing DV work since last fall & I can attest to how often DARVO works on law enforcement.

Frex: Survivor is strangled, claws until they get free. Survivor's throat has no marks yet or damage is internal. Perpetrator has deep scratches.

Outcome? Survivor arrested.
Okay, all. I have a call to action for all CA residents.

If you're not a CA resident, please help share and boost?

1. Most of you know what happened to me last month. If not, my @calmatters.org op-ed was posted this morning.

I'm working on changing the penal code.
How a well-intended California domestic violence law results in victims being arrested | Opinion
The California Penal Code requires officers to make an arrest in domestic violence incidents, sometimes leading to victims being detained.

Hundreds of thousands if not millions of cisgender Americans receive gender affirming care.
Hi. I’m one of them…

Been wondering for a while if local interest, weather, sports and entertainment TV journalists are where we’ll see real hints of dissent as the big news channels continue to obey.

Primary Every Democrat
It’s exhausting to watch poll-tested, donor-beholden congressional Democrats continue to be too old, too cloistered, and too bumbling to do anything as the government burns.

I have no sympathy for any of 45s folks, but the ONE Black co-defendant was denied bail because “you are at risk to commit additional felonies and a potential risk to flee the jurisdiction,” while rich white ones got on a DAMN PLANE.

Bail = Ransom
bail is racist

Not for nothing but this is actually a scandal and the Times owes its readers an explanation as to why a) they continually get the wool pulled over their eyes by inveterate racists, and b) there are so many inveterate racists in the upper echelons of the conservative movement

Never forget that the Hollywood anti-communist blacklist and HUAC harassment were in large part because studio heads saw it as a great way to get rid of a lot of pesky agitators who had been participating in strikes for fair wages and dignity -- and Hollywood was never the same after that
I was trying to be cool and professional about this strike, but this AMPTP “we want to drive them to homelessness” shit means I’m going to be dug in at WB Gate 4 like Hiroo Onada. They’re gonna have to send Ellen Stutzman with a bullhorn to order me out of the bushes.

It's not just that they understand/admit how evil this is.

It's that they understand that most WGA writers fighting for better pay have less than 5-6 months of savings.

And they want to punish that desire for better pay by exploiting the financial insecurity THAT THEY CAUSED.
